Maybe, this allows up to 32 devices connected, LTE Cat 6 connection.
Previous Huawei e5577 modem allows up to 16 devices connected, LTE Cat 4 connection.
With the max speed of 300Mbps, it would be struggle to share with 5 devices. I prefer to use my old phone with 5G compatible.
Most people only have 100Mbps at home
Locked to Telstra?
SIM locking
Telstra SIM required. Unlocking fee applies for use with a non-Telstra SIM card.

Thanks
*non-Telstra network. Boost SIMs can still be used for example.
Funny as I thought Belong would work in mine, denied! Lucky I was over the 12 months period, they unlocked for free.
@BatmanAU: Did you need to provide any evidence it was over 12 months? I don’t think I have a receipt for my MF910Y.
@BatmanAU: Telstra full and wholesale are separate network, just like another network Optus.
I don't think there's Telstra wholesale network locked device on the market ever.
Does this work as a backup that's permanently tethered to a router via USB?
Nothing I read suggests it does support this. I’m interested too for a cheap 4G dongle that has Ethernet out for backup internet
If you don't mind double-NAT, one of those cheap 4G routers can be a backup (e.g., Tenda 4G05 N300).
If your main router doesn't have a backup WAN port, this can sit in between your router and your NBN modem, as it has a WAN port on its own and can switch to 4G if its WAN goes down.
GL.Inet routers generally support this. Some commercial routers also do.
android phone with usb tethering works well for me for failover wan on opnsense :)
shows up as another interface
Can I use exetel or aldi sim?
No, must be unlocked.
So even though Aldi uses Telstra wholesale mobile network, this device only works for Telstra mobile? How about Boost?
Likely will work on Boost, MF910Y (previous model) does.
Not sure about Boost, but Belong and Aldi didn't work
Don't need it but want it!
is this locked?
Did you bother to read the comments?
Wouldn’t a cheap android phone work too? Would come with a screen too!
Yep but may support less devices, have a shorter battery life and definitely won't have external antenna ports.
I was down a Phillip Island recently, around Red Rocks Road. Speed went from 9 Mbps down (barely useable) to 44 Mbps down (perfectly usable) by adding two cheap TS9 antennae.
do you have a link or info for antenna please?
I probably bought a pair for cheap from eBay. Any cheap ones will improve reception: ebay, AliExpress etc
If it wasn't locked that'd be really handy to have around at such a price. Anyone know how much it costs to unlock it?
Unlocking by Telstra costs $80 if you haven't used it, or $25 if you've used it for more than 2 years. But there will be third parties who can do it online for less.
Can you data share with this?
What you mean data share? That’s related to the plan. Here it’s just the device.
apologies, when it said prepaid I assumed it came with a prepaid service, so my question was can you data share with a prepaid data plan.
basically I was looking for 4g modem for the kids to use for their devices, when we're out. But I wanted to data share from my plan.
I hot spot from my phone but it just drains the battery and or heats up.
Is this achievable?
Yes, if you remove the SIM from your phone and insert it into this device.
I imported a US Netgear M6 Pro for $150, probably a lot better than this and is well worth it
Is it 3x better?
Yes, 5G can get 1000mbps down in the city
Where did you get one for $150?
Can this be tethered to a computer instead of using wifi?
Picked one up today for a few tests compared to others seems stable and also can be run without battery if wanted just straight power
Thanks for sharing it. That's a good feature.
Thanks, just tried with Telstra or other non Telstra providers using their network?
Just telstra data sim
Hmm, I have an old Huawei E8372h that I use with a MIMO antenna with TS9 plugs. Would I see any benefit getting something a bit newer like this?
