Do yourself a favour and just get the upcoming air fryer oven from Aldi at more than half the price instead of this overpriced crap.

    • +3

Yes, because an air fryer and a countertop oven are definitely the same thing.

      • They essentially are. I agree with clubhonda that this is overpriced.

      • Not exactly the same, but an airfryer is just a convective oven, except its smaller and sits on your counter. You might say its a countertop oven.

      • The aldi one is same type - front-loader. $129, 18/12.

        https://www.lasoo.com.au/offer/ovens-0/25l-multifunction-air…

But looks too tall for my space. Anyone know where the spec's are?

        • good luck getting anything cheap from aldi. they have 3 per store.

          • @unifex: It's not a Lacura special. Pretty sure if you arrive in the morning you'll be able to snag one.

    • If only I could fit a pizza in an / any Air fryer!

See this comment every now and then on Ozb. Your neg vote is invalid, which is beside the point. Most products on OzB deals have lower priced alternatives if that's what you want/need. Price often the reflects quality, reliability, range of functions, design, aesthetics etc etc. I'll bet my house on the fact you have no first-hand knowledge of this "overpriced crap".

Was going to buy it, but out of stock. We've abused the earlier model for some 7 years now and it's been great.

    • Totally agree and in same boat. Great ovens (not sure about this model but if the same as the older one but includes "Air Fryer" capabilites, then will certainly go with this model when the time comes.
The Aldi or Kmart noted ones in this thread don't even come close to what this is and not an Apples for Apples comparison. The Breville Smart Ovens are excellent (personal opinion and based on having used many types over the years). Have not used our main Oven in 10 years as these do a better job and cost a lot less to operate.

No. I am a big fan of various air fryer groups and many of the user reported problems seem to be from Breville brands and initially, even Phillips with their basket. Quality is shit. Surprisingly, the generic ones have been really good and I've almost never come across any reported issues with the UFO types.

My earlier comments were prob negged by Breville employees trying to encourage sales of their poorly made and overpriced crap lol.

        • +1

Probably. Alternatively it could be that people quickly concluded that you know sfa about Breville products and even less about this particuar one. It seems you are an expert on shit and crap however. Lol.

    • I'm sure they are essentially exactly the same, but technically that's an older model without air fry etc.

      • So it is, didn't notice that!

  • This is a great unit. Use it daily.

  • I just bought on of these.

The only problem is that Kmart can't keep them in stock and sell out within minutes. Took me 8 days to finally order one.

    • That one is tiny, only 11 litre. Can it even fit a dinner plate?

      • Why would you want to fry a plate?

        • It is an oven, not a frying pan. Air "fryers" misnamed to appeal to the gullible. It is an oxymoron.

  • I'd honestly of just gotten the lower model and saved my $170. I don't use the air fryer. Everything sticks to the frying tray and my tefal air fryer does what I want anyway

  • Great oven, don't use my main oven anymore. Easier and cheaper to operate. I air fried some "boiled" eggs in it. Not bad.

  • Thanks I got one. They stocked 2 more this morning.

  • Make sure you don't opt for the previous BOV845BSS model which is still for sale everywhere.
Known lemon with the convection fan usually failing after 18-24 months. Google it.
    They don't carry spares either.

    • It still works fine without the fan, Ours kicked the bucket a couple of years back and still chugging along.
I'd say the worst part is when the elements start losing their power/strength is more a pain if doing toast as less even but for roasting etc, all is still well.
