So here is the thing. I booked two flight tickets from Gold Coast to Tokyo return for Sep 2020 as part of Jetstar return for free sale. Now my wife and I have to travel overseas next year for 3 weeks for some family commitments, which means that taking another week off from in September might not be possible for both of us anymore.
Long story short, given I bought normal package and not flexi etc., I am quite sure that the tickets are non refundable. Although it is letting me change the dates for another $75 each passenger per flight ($300 in total), plus fare difference. But flights for 2021 are not open yet. Do you have any advice on what I should do in this case? Can I transfer tickets to someone else? Not blaming Jetstar at all, they infact provisioned such cheap tickets to one of my favourite places!!
Thanks in advance everyone.
Basically no, if there was any way around this then nobody would ever pay for flex tickets (and to be fair, flex tickets on Jetstar are actually only a very small price premium).
If you didn't get flex tickets, then your only choice is to just cop the change fee. Also to be fair, $75 per passenger each way is actually a very low change fee compared to what you would pay for changing, say, a Qantas discount economy fare.
