  • what does this adaptor even do?!

    • Allowed your surface connect to have a USB c connection. This will allow you to use USB C hubs or charge your laptop with PD power banks

        • I have used the hootoo usb c hub and it works fine with the surface laptop 2

      • Yep, bought one for my SP4. Works a treat with my (work issued) Lenovo ThinkPad 65W USB-C based charger. No need to mess around with multiple power adapters now when swapping devices at home.

On a separate note, in terms of footprint the brick part of the Microsoft Surface Connect to USB-C Adapter is "significant". Not the greatest piece of engineering right there.

  • Can it be used on surface book 2?

    • +2

You don’t need it as surface book already has USB C

  • tempted to buy one for my surface laptop 3…

  • +2

An expensive solution to a problem that shouldn't exist.

  • Anyone has tried this with a Surface Pro 3? Does it work with the usb c hub on the Surface 3 Pro device? Thank you..

  • +2

PD doesn’t work with SP3. Just tested this now.

    • Ah, sorry to hear that. So no charging capability through USB-C? What about the display and data?

    • Got mine delivered y'day and have been trying since… looks it requires higher watt power. I have not been able to get it to work so far at all.
bought a HooToo hub to make it work but no joy so far…

There was a post on https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/487656
where the person (julz) "confirmed working as a charger for my Surface Pro 3."
using "Laptop charger with 65w USB type c"

Will test if atleast I could get a mouse/USB ports working with this.
Looks like I will need bigger power source to test the display output through HooToo HDMI port.
