I was about to go buy a Pebble Time to replace my just broken one but I'm considering this. Can anyone share their experience with this and flashing custom firmware? What extra features can you garner with it? Can you use it to pay and use GPS in Australia?

Battery life is OK to good if you use it with heart rate monitor and GPS. Great to excellent if you only use the heart rate monitor and GPS infrequently and amazing if you also choose a watch face without seconds on the watch. My watch is currently at 64% charge after 21 days and I used the heart rate and GPS moderately on 1 day.

Flashing custom firmware doesn't give you anything special from what I can see though I've never tried it.

Only payment system on watch is AliPay via QR codes.

      GPS works fine in Australia.

Probably a downgrade in comparison to a Pebble time though. It really only does weather, notifications (no replying) and fitness. You are probably better off with one of the Amazfit\Xiaomi watches that has Android or Android Wear as the OS for a more feature rich experience with the trade off being battery life.

I really like mine because I just wanted really good battery life, basic watch and notifications. Would love for it to be able to reply to notifications and be able to do Google Pay but I'm not willing to give up battery life.

      • Thanks very much mate. I saw a few rudimentary apps from flashing CFW but nothing special. I really only used my Pebble for the time and notifications anyway so I'm not too fussed on the lack of apps.

Can you uninstall any of pre-installed programs/apps such as the AliPay one or even just hide them entirely? I hate having useless icons or whatever that I can't use and clog up my watch.

Oh also, can you connect this to Google Fit and use the step counter to track it?

you can hide any of the apps.
there is an app that called "Notify & Fitness for Amazfit" that allows you to customise the watch even more so but be careful it can brick it.
yes can connect to google fit

No offence to OP but it is currently priced at A$77 at tecobuy, and a signup voucher of A$8 would further bring it down to A$69.

    • Damn. I overpaid then :P

Yeah I paid $74AUD for it back in July. Definitely has been cheaper.

      • See my below comment. This is actually still $2 cheaper.

    • expensive shipping……

$8 off only valid on orders of $180 or more. Plus $15 standard shipping actually brings it out to $2 more expensive.

  • Is this watch's bands compatible with Pebble time steel? My Pebble time steel's band broke but I cannot find a good replacement

    • Nope :( 22mm versus this ones 20mm.

I find NATO straps to be great for most watches. Can get them almost anywhere.
