$45 is still a lot for a 5 year old game with no new content.

But it's a bloody good game.

    • +2

trying buying it online and its bloody $79 on the Switch store !!

All these old WII/Switch games as still expensive

      • +3

If you want cheapest eShop games and it's not on sale, you might want to consider buying the Nintendo Online vouchers for $135 for two. It requires a Nintendo online subscription (but I got mine for free from Prime/Twitch), and then if you want to save even more you could stack with discounted eShop credit to buy the vouchers too.

But I agree with Merlict. It's a bloody good game. If you didn't play it on Wii U before, then it's like a new game anyway since Nintendo 1st party stuff doesn't really age.

    • +1

Nintendo tax and compared to the Wii U version you can play it on the go, most of the top 10 Switch games stay over $60, really you can just resell once you complete it and get a decent amount back too

      • +3

Why not buy it second hand and sell it for the same amount?

        • +9

          This guy’s on to something.

    • +1

It’s almost a first party game, it’s a first part mascot anyway, so $45 is good.

  • Tempting. Dunno if I’ve learnt my lesson yet with buying multiple Donkey Kong Countrys basically getting constantly ported from SNES to Gameboy and gameboy advance.

    • to be fair with Tropical Freeze its everything the Wii U version has plus Funky Kong so it's not like your getting a downgraded port like the Gameboy and GBA versions of the snes DK's are.

      • +3

        plus Funky Kong

Arguably didn't improve the game :p

        • I'd like to see someone argue it ;)

  • +2

+1 as this is easily my favourite game on Switch.

The level design, the difficulty curve, the music - all simply amazing

  • +1

    bargain mate nice one

  • Damn, so close. Was hoping for a deal on donkey Kong Frozen Ape

    • Donkey Kong Frozen Ape will be getting a double pack release alongside Splat Tim 2 next year

  • Funky New Mode!

  • I bought this game when it was first released, it's not that bad, after awhile it becomes repetitive, the Nostalgic part is great, but this version of Donkey Kong could've been better.

I await those who can't handle criticism to start down voting.

    • +5

This isn't really criticism. You've just said your opinion without elaborating on why.

      Not downvoting btw

    • -2

Your opinion is pretty much worthless since most people love DKCTF. I don't know how it could've been better. You can't make a dkc game better than the original dkc trilogy. They were amazing 10/10 games. TF is a solid 9.

      • That sounds a lot like nostalgia talking

        • Nope. I literally played them for the first timelast year. Never heard anyone say anything bad about the old dkc trilogy

    • Nice spot!

    • Pretty much no stock in any stores.

  • +1

thanks been waiting ages for this to drop a bit in price

  • Bought/. Thanks OP

  • +3

If you are unconvinced about this game, watch this explanation of it https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JqHcE6B4OP4

One of the worst games imho… maybe I'm no longer into 2d platformers..

    • +3

      I'd say it's the latter…

    • lol…i'd say that's a solid bet.

  • +1

Hmmm tempting, but I just picked up 4 games over the weekend sales.

    • +3

May as well round it up to the nearest 5

      • +3

        I like your attitude

  • +1

Crazy Nintendo making me buy the same games from the wiiu for high prices.

    • +4

I don't think anyone is making you do anything?

  • have a feeling it's going to go lower at some point, quality game no doubt but not a zelda or mario game. Wait will it's about $32 or so

    • Still a gamble considering it never really dropped on Wii U until stores cleared inventory.

      • Interesting. I often just put my opinions out there, and I'm willing to be convinced otherwise. So you recommend picking it up at this price?

        • Well it's back to $68 now, so…

        • I would wager that it will never go under $40, ever. Unless there's some sort of crazy clearance going on.

  • Is this the only donkey Kong game on the switch?

My brother in law hinted he wanted donkey Kong on his switch, but I’m unsure if this is the one(or if this is the only one)

    • This is the only DK game on Switch as of right now.

      • Thanks!

  • ahh ffs. deal over

  • +2

Already own it but must have enjoyed it so much I very nearly bought it again on accident

  • It says 68$ on Amazon. Anyone else?

    • Yeah it's expired now sadly.

  • +1

Better off buying a wii U and getting these old wii U games for cheaper.

    • +2

It is like one has collections of its favourite movies on DVD then buy them in Blu Ray when they are out and followed by 4K Blu Ray etc. The same movies on DVD, Blu Ray then 4K Blu Ray just because it loves these movies and collect them.

      • That should be in my profile lol

      • Also theatrical version, then extended version, then director cut of same movie.

    • Cant play Wii U on the go

  • Is Nintendo even making new games for the Switch? Or just refreshing old WiiU titles?

    • +2

Is this your attempt at an exaggeration or a genuine question?

  • How did I miss this already?!

  • +1

Price showing up as $68 now

  • Uhhhhggggg

You blink and you miss this deal

  • +1

Lucky, saved in my cart while still at work & charged $45. To all waiting for this to go lower…it aint. Been scoping Switch sales for years for this and it have never dropped

  • Mario Tennis Aces is $45 and Kirby Star Allies $39 at Target but only like 1 store in all of Australia has limited stock. Amazon price match is the only hope to snag a copy.

  • +1

Just came to say this is an awesome game! It's challenging in some places but that's the fun of it

  • One of the most brutal end bosses I've ever defeated… (wii u)

  • -3

I got this a year ago from the $29 eb deal sure you had to trade in 2 games but one I had literally got for nothing and the other wouldn't have been Worth $15 used I never normally sell or trade in games but was happy too for that deal.

  • Back to $45

    • Nice!

      Edit: back to $68 again
