I have plans to meet with a bunch of people and take notes on the conversations. I think it will be hard to keep track of everything just taking analogue, paper notes.
I've heard that a smart pen can be a very useful tool in this situation. Specifically, I'm less interested in a pen that digitises notes, and more interested in one that can record audio while writing and sync it with the note taking - eg when I review the written notes I can return to the audio context.
I've started looking around and it seems there aren't many options. Livescribe seems to be the main (only?) option out there, but the reviews aren't very encouraging. I'm wondering if people have any ideas or tips?
My understanding is also that most smart pens that do what I want need to work with a dedicated notebook. I've also been checking out RocketBook which doesn't do all of what I want (the audio) but does look interesting and potentially useful, and I'd be interested in other thoughts on that.
I'd also be open to a tablet solution that imitates writing in a notebook and can also do audio sync with written notes.
Thanks in advance!
I can't help you with product recommendations, but I would suggest you confirm with all participants in your meetings that they are comfortable with your recording and that it is appropriate to the situation.
I've witnessed some very awkward conversations when people suddenly realise they're being recorded without their permission.
