Just noticed that Officeworks has the Chromecast 3 for $47.
Can also do Click & Collect for extra convenience.
Enjoy
EDIT: Also $47 at HN - ends tomorrow.

Just wondering, is Chromecast Region locked? If I am travelling overseas will it work outside Australia ?
Not region locked, it can be used anywhere around the world.
I bought the first gen Chromecast from the US just after it was released, because I am a bastion of patience.
What are the benefits of Chromecast 3? Currently using Chromecast 1 bought years ago from Officeworks for $12 lol…
I know some services (like Kayo) don't actually support first gen Chromecasts, don't ask me why (although if I had to guess, I'd say "DRM bullshit"). WiFi reception can also be better on the 2nd and 3rd gen because the first gen doesn't support 5GHz networks.
I have the same question.
Have an original Chromecast still working well.
Not sure if upgrading to the Chromecast 3 will provide a superior experience??
Anyone have any personal experience?
Late reply, but newer DRM and newer H.264 1080p 4.2 support, and newer VP8 support for later versions of youtube videos
https://developers.google.com/cast/docs/media
If you want 1080p or need 4k, the ultra is the stronger GPU and has VP9, Google's own video standard ( not really google specific, but it's designed for streaming, and they don't have to pay for the billion+ H.264 license(s), and it's slightly better/different for 4k video support)
hi all, from what i have read, if it works and you are happy why upgrade, Ultra is 4k but not much content is broadcast in 4k, i'm guessing the ultra would be the way to go, waiting for January sales
$44.10 at the good guys with the promo code BLACK10
is this the newest model?
