Asus Zenbook S 13.3'' 512GB 16G RAM i7-8gen $1599.20 C&C @ Bing Lee eBay

First post. Please be gentle. I've been watching this ultrabook for 3 months now. Every time ebay had a sale, Bing Lee jacked up the price to $2200 or $2300 but they finally forgot this time.

It's a great ultrabook for anyone who's looking for a light (1.09kg), powerful and portable (50Whr battery) laptop. Dell XPS13 and Razor Blade Stealth have also been on my watch list. However, I didn't want to pay more ($~1800) for the "refurbished" XPS13 with the same specs and the Razor Blade Stealth with smaller 256GB SSD and a weak MX150 GPU also costs more (>$1900) after discounts. So that was a no brainer.

Good thing about this ultrabook is the thunderbolt USB-C connector so you can connect to a external GPU and play high-end games. The downside is that it only has 3 USB-C ports so if you have a lot of USB-A devices (e.g. mouse, keyboard), you will need an adaptor.

This one is the UX391FA (released in early 2019) not the UX391UA model from last year.

  • How does it compare vs this deal? The Zenbook 14 UX434FAC:
    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/501162

    • The UX434 series is more like your ordinary laptop with a variety of ports: HDMI, USB type A and etc. If you want a more traditional laptop and need a lot of different port options, that might not be a bad choice.

But since I was looking for a more premium look like XPS13, those ports just made the laptop look messy. In addition, it does not support thunderbolt so you cannot plug into an external GPU so you can never use that laptop to play GPU intensive games. Also, I tried UX433 at JB before, I think its keyboard panel is a bit wobbly (plastic feeling) so I didn't like its built quality. Lastly, you can't power it via its USB-C port so you will need their proprietary power cable.

  • Thanks for the heads up..

I alrealdy have the XPS 13 4k .. and the battery life.. isn't that great on it..
Looks like this machine has even worse battery life in the 4k version.. which will be an issue for some people..

Else looks like a great price..

    • Yeah I'm also worried a bit about the 4K display draining power but since my surface pro 4 with much smaller 38whr battery can still last 4-5 hours, I figure this should be fine. I agree a bigger battery would be better but at the same time I don't want anything heavier so yeah I guess I'll just have to cope with it.

  • I went with this https://www.binglee.com.au/acer-nx-hhysa-001-swift-5-noteboo…. Cheaper and better specs if you dont mind the lower resolution. Not on ebay but 20% off instore

    • nice find!

  • Great spec for the price. But no independent graphics card.
