$42 in WA. As always, better off getting the cans made in Japan.

only 500ml cans made in Japan. 350ml cans made in chine.

They've half switched to Aus brewed now. It went full Aussie stock for around 3 months, then when they ran out of capacity switched back to China temporarily. In the new year we will see it switch to Aus brewed only. (Bottles only, I think the cans will stay Japanese for now)

350ml cans will folow most likely

        • +1

Stubbies I bought yesterday were brewed in Australia.

          • @mmd: Just double checked my info. They started switching to chinese brewed in October And it won't switch back to Aus brewed until April/May. There's probably still plenty of Aus brewed floating around though and will be for a while

            • @Soluble: Cheers. Will stock up.
Any reason why they changed to brewing in Australia?

              • @mmd: Probably more profitable, I can't find the communication from the original switch. Just the new one which says they switched back due to portfolio increase and brewing capacity

      • 350ml cans made in chine.

Indeed, made from the pristine waters of Guangzhou if I'm not mistaken!

  • Dad likes the Asahi black made in Japan, is that these? I can never remember which one they are.

    • +1

No, the Asahi Black is a higher ABV one. This is 5% abv.

      • Ahh right, and are all the blacks made in Japan?

        • +2

I've personally never seen Asahi Dry Black that's not brewed in Japan, but there's no guarantee that won't change.

The non-Japanese Asahi 'licensed' brews are all garbage imo, regardless of where it's brewed (China, Aus, Canada). May as well buy Carlton Cold.

The Black does go on sale occasionally, it' these ones - https://www.danmurphys.com.au/product/DM_467398/asahi-super-…

  • Meh. It's on sale at all Cellarbrations in WA for 2 weeks at the same price.

  • Similar price at Boozebud FWIW

  • Just saw this at Dan Murphy's Oakleigh South store for $42

  • The flavor difference between the can from Japan and the others is noticeable.

I'm not saying the non Japanese are bad, just different. It all comes down to personal taste.

For me it is the Japanese 500ml can as well as Kirin Ichiban.

  • Supa Dorai.
