    No love for existing customers?

    • +8

      Of course not…:(

      • +10

I give them a couple more weeks, if they don't do anything for us existing customers I'll move on while Superloop still has that special going.

        • +14

I give them 10 hours. I've been with ABB paying $100p/m for 2 years. They better apply the discount or I'm going to Superloop. They can't expect loyalty if they aren't going to do squat for the customers they already have.

          • +3

@Dontreadthis: Just change. They won’t give you a discount.

That’s what I’m doing, except I’m going from Superloop to ABB due to SL not running any promotions till lately, so a lot of people who signed up earlier than the last couple of months missed out on any promotion.

It’s a bit different with ABB as they’ve basically always run promotions, so you’d be unlucky to have not gotten a double data/free month/$X off for 6 months deal.

No company deserves any loyalty nowadays.

          • +8

@Dontreadthis: You're working against the system. You must make the system work for you. If they offered the discount to all existing customers, there will be no discount. Think about it. People don't seem to get this.

            • +3

@gimme: The way ABB did it in the past was clever: they gave 1 or 2 free months to people who pre-paid 1 year. That doesn't give it to all people, but only to the ones who a) find out b) can be bothered to jump through a hoop and c) are willing to commit some cash.
I reckon a) and b) limits it to almost exactly the same people who are willing to switch if they don't get a deal.

          • +1

@Dontreadthis: No such thing as loyalty. You are just a number. Just change.

          • +1

@Dontreadthis: I called them a while back as I had just signed up to $99/m and immediately after, they dropped it to $79 for a sale.

I called to have it matched and they said no. I begged and begged, spoke to manager etc and no deal.

As I wasn't on contract, I told them I'll leave immediately if you don't match, they said that's fine.

5 mins later i was connected to Vodafone 100mbit for $69/m and I made ABB refund the remainder of the month.

What a bunch of idiots. Disgusting dodgy service from ABB.

        • Don't wait just move. Like most companies don't expect a y benefits for existing customers. They only care about new ones

        • +1

Been with ABB since March, all the promotions I've seen to date are for new customers. I decided to give them a call and see if there's anything for existing customers in the near future and was advised no nothing for the foreseeable future. So I guess the only real way to jump on these promo bandwagons is to churn to another ISP that doesn't lock you in a contract, then when ABB has a promo like these that is better than your current plan, simply churn back over.

          • @n00dles: Yes that's exactly how the real world works

    • +2

Churn to superloop I was on hfc and was sick of all these new deals for new customers took me 3 mins to change service !

    • Why would they when pricing like this is loss leading?

    • +2

I’m moving to Superloop too. Whilst it’s nice being with ABB for their service, the extra $25/month on top of Superloop isn’t worth it anymore.

    • Been with AB for over 18 months. They always offer good deals to "NEW" members but never to "Existing" Members. Planning to leave in a week for a better deal elsewhere. IT's a shame most companies dont reward loyal members anymore. No incentive to stay

  • +1

OK… so now it seems you can be a 'new custom' after 180 days?

    • if you live with housemate/partner just do it in their name and that is a new person

      • +1

From their terms and conditions "a discount cannot be applied to an address within 180days of any other discount being applied, unless you can prove you are a new owner/rental tenant (not flatmate) of that address"

  • +4

What strange discounts they are offering. 25 & 50 tiers for the same price.

    • +3

Not strange when you think about it, it's your classic upsell.

People who would otherwise be happy with 25Mbps will think "may as well get the 50 meg plan since it's the same price as the 25 meg" - then in six months, it reverts to it's usual price of $79.95 (instead of $69.95 on the 25Mbps plan), and they either forget to change their plan to 25Mbps or have now become accustomed to the speed of 50Mbps and don't want to downgrade.

      • +1

Well explained, thanks for marketing 101 :-)

  • -1

Damn don't quite make the 180 days.

I recently changed from ABB to Superloop and have been disappointed with inconsistent with speeds. It took them over a month to reply to a support ticket.

Will happily go back to ABB on next discount offer

    • Same boat here. I'll move back when the 6 month expires, which conveniently is when the SL discount ends. But speeds have been nowhere near as consistent as when we were with ABB. Rebooting my router about every second day from drop outs too for some reason which is frustrating.

  • +3

Hi ho hi ho it's off to Superloop I go! Never any love for existing customers yo! I'll be back in 180 days

  • What modem you reco using FTTN that works for most NBN provider?
Is the dsl 2888a the most preferred?

  • -4

This isn't a deal, it's their normal offer to new customers.

    • +2

Standard offer is one month free.
Six month discount is commonly seen for pre-orders in areas that are not yet ready for service.

  • Signed up two days ago. Installation is in a weeks time. Called them this morning and they said they can't apply the discount. Not a great start!

    • Perhaps try again. There are some that are willing to apply the code between sign up and install.

  • It does NOT say it is only for new customers. Terms and conditions are confusing as hell. Second section says "General promotions terms and conditions – existing customers" reads:
    • promotions only apply to existing customers
    • promotions cannot be redeemed outside the promotional period
    • promotions cannot be applied retrospectively
    • promotions do not apply to our NBN 150 or 250 plans unless stated
    otherwise
    • a promotional discount cannot be transferred to another person or party
    • a promotional discount cannot be redeemed for cash
    • discounts will be applied automatically to customer bills for the relevant
    period
    • promotions involving hardware do not include mailing costs
    • customers should refer to general terms and conditions for specific
    products and services

    • Hi there.

Our General promotion terms and conditions state "Promotions only apply to new customers", not that they apply to existing customers.

There is a section relating to existing customer promotions, however this is not one of them.

      Cheers, Nicole

      • +2

What existing customer promotions do exist?

        • +1

To be fair that is a good question! "What existing customer promotions do exist?"

  • So I have been a very loyal Skymesh (back in the days) and now Superloop customer for last 4 years….This deals would save me $60 over 6 months as I am paying $69 right now for 50 MBPS plan plus I get to try a new ISP….Who here reckons it is a good idea to hum to ABB and see how I go for 6 months???

    • Just do it!

    • Do it.

    • Done…

  • So the question has to be asked….

Do I take ABB up on this offer ($59/6 mths) or do I save $5 and go with Superloop ($54/6 mths)?

FWIW, I'm looking at moving from Telstra cable to NBN HFC…

    • +1

$58 for Superloop I think the just increased the price

      • Yes, you are correct! In that case, ABB's reputation is worth the extra $1/mth ;-)

On a side note, I had sent through a sales enquiry via Superloop website, and it took 2 weeks to get a reply.. I surely hope their customers can expect a faster response time!!

        • if sales enquiry took 2 weeks for existing customer would wait for longer time

  • +2

When I called ABB earlier this week advising I was looking to cancel if I couldn't get a better deal with them I was advised to "Wait until later in the week as we have something coming that I can't give specifics on" and they would be able to offer me a better deal, Called them today and was told none of the deals are applicable as I am an existing customer.

So I don't get what the point of lying was… Guess I'll look elsewhere to get the same service at a better price.

    • Haven't been with ABB for over a year.
Tried to sign up but not considered "new customer" by their staff.
Not working under another family member name either
      Oh well, will try SL

    • "I was advised to "Wait until later in the week as we have something coming that I can't give specifics on" and they would be able to offer me a better deal"

Interesting… the Agent I spoke to said they didn't have advance notice of any promotion.

  • What is considered a new customer? I haven't been with Aussie Broadband for over 6 months. The code doesn't seem to be working for me

Read the terms and conditions, and there's no definition of what a New Customer is.

    • call them.

    • Hi antigravity83,

As RichardF89 wrote, just give our team a buzz if you haven't already and they should be able to sort something out for you.

      Have a lovely day!

      Cheers, Nicole

      • Thanks will do. Didn't want to waste my time with a phone call only to be told that I'm not a new customer.

Might be worth defining what a "New Customer" is.

        • +1

Don’t waste your time, thats what happened to me. They just denied me despite not being with them for over 12 months in a rude tone and then had the audacity to ask if I wanted to join them at normal price instead

          • @jiakz: I haven’t been with them for about 7 months and signed up to this deal from SL no problems (same house so location ID is the same as before).

No clue why it would be locking you out from signing up for it.

  • modem cost is $149

    • you can buy your own moden

      • Any “Black Friday” recommendations?

  • Every time I try to ring them the call drops out. I hope this isn't a reflection on the quality of their service.

  • +2

I expect there will be lots of customers (myself included) that will do 6 monthly rotations between ABB and SL while they continue to offer $x off for 6 months promotions. I've had both, and have been really happy with them.

  • Im interested to see if nbn plans will drop to these prices in the next 6 months.

Lots of news lately about nbn offering cheaper wholesale prices to isps and these promos might be a way to lock in customers at the true value only to bump them up in 6 months time.

At least no lock in contract

  • Do ABB do static IP for consumer plans?

    • +2

      Yep
      Edit:$10 addon

  • First 6 months only…. If permanent I would think about it

  • I have only 1 question. Will this be better than my current Telstra cable?
I am to move to HFC. Postcode 2224

  • My cousin signed up awhile back and ABB refused to stack my referral code, when I signed up I was able to stack 6 month deal + friends referral code.

  • Just switched my fam to ABB. What's a good FTTN modem/router?

  • Thanks RichardF89 I signed up yesterday Dodo tried to tell me these speeds were reasonable on ADSL..LOL https://www.speedtest.net/result/8813951748.png

    • none of that is reasonable….lol

      • They disconnected me twice saying i took to long to reply.LOL

  • +1

I negotiated with IInet on my current 50 mbps plan and got it down to $65 from $79 (for 6 months) that Includes calls to local & mobiles. Also got a new modem - Win - Win

    • Can you provide the screenshot of the offer you got in case we want iinet to match the same offer?

I am switching to TPG nbn for $69.99/month since i have TPG adsl to have smooth transition to NBN but I plan to switch to another better/cheaper provider asap as I dont like the 30 day cancellation period policy.
