No way! Fear 3 was great. But its a bit like Resident Evil 4, in that it totally departs from the status quo of the previous titles.

Yes, that's precisely why it was sh*t and why you would just play some generic military shooter if you wanted that experience.
F3AR was a retarded, hot mess with the story going completely off the rails by resurrecting characters previously dead since the first game and moving the setting to some South American-looking slum city that has no basis in the existing canon (where as all preceding titles were set in the same locale, Fairport) and the gameplay just ditching all the Japanese horror pretenses and John-Woo style shoot-outs and instead giving you a generic, brain dead, consolised shooter with regenerating health and bullet hose gameplay against bullet sponge enemies.
Even F.E.A.R. 2 Project Origin, which was still a far cry from the first game and its expansions, is a far better "FEAR-lite" clone, than this heap of garbage.

Jokes aside I'm pretty sure F3AR was the worst in the series, I don't think I'd recommend any of the games after the expansion for the first one.
