For months now I have been receiving mysterious hangup calls,se are now diminishing) but the NBN appears to have upgraded my messagebank and the recorded operator mow relays the number that called. Yesterday and today were 2 nunbers beginning with 08, but when I call one it says it is not connected and the other one has a busy signal. Are 08 numbers just adelaide or is it some kind of mobile number?

088 numbers are SA
089 is WA
They are only landlines and are for people that live in Western Australia, South Australia & the Northern Territory
Have you googled the number?
04 are mobile numbers. 08 are WA, SA or NT landline

I used to get them all the time. Those numbers are burner VoIP numbers, very easy to get.
Can't track these monkeys down unless you have a warrant. The law doesn't support this kind of phone harassment yet.
If you've been getting them for months, make sure not to enter/fill your phone numbers on a form (online/offline) when it's not needed.hpw do you send calls from this burner numbers?
It’s internet call, like facetime. With VoIP, you can automate this on a computer with any VoIP call software.
You can find any VoIP provider that let you buy/rent local numbers.
