$400 delivery for me in SA. Oh well.

Looks good OP and a great price! Seems as though decent ACs have plummeted over the last five or so years. I bought a cheapie Kelvinator (generic Electrolux manufactured) a couple of years ago and installed it myself. Gets the bedroom stupidly cold in no time and is a rock solid performer so I'd say this LG would be similar. No need to pay more IMO.

tbh probably wouldn't advise installing a split by yourself unless it's your profession

I agree to a certain extent and as it was my first I was pretty anxious but with the right tools (which cost a few hundred mind you) and a general understanding of how things work it was far easier than expected and thanks to the success of the first I'm about to install a couple more… far neater than most 'professional' installs I've seen too! Anyway, each to their own.

        Why? What makes it difficult?

        • Not sure how to read this question :) If you're genuinely interested I'd be happy to shed some light on the process, what's required and the bits possibly classed as 'difficult' but if you're just trying to get a rise out of ADGRM then maybe we just wait to see how they reply :)

  • How much does installation usually cost?

    • We shopped around a few months ago and found $600 to be the general price for back-to-back installation, including running power, here in SA.

  • Just bought this deal, seems like good price and i love Lg products for reliability. Fingers crossed. Now getting quotes for install, but wondering what is a good quote for just install.

    • I got 2 quotes for dakin air cons to be installed and removing the cost of the unit they were taking $1000 to put it in. Family member of mine who installs aircons in NSW said that $600 is a reasonable amount for a standard back to back install. I was going to see if bunnings would do it as you can buy an install from them but unsure if you have to buy the aircon from them aswell.

      • Wow! I thought a basic back-to-back install was only about $300-$400 absolute maximum. That's the figure I used to justify purchasing the gear/tools to DIY the job but as I have a few to install over time I thought it was well worthwhile as payback would happen after the first install. If a standard install is as much as $600 then DIY is even more attractive/justifiable to those who are keen & confident enough to tackle it. Nice :)
