Hi. There are 4 of us living in my house - housemates - so a lot of 'individual' washes although I do grab all the towels and they get washed in full load. I have a F&Paykel Top load machine currently. While I love being able to 'soak' and add an extra item even though wash commenced the water wasted is really bothering me as it's heartbreaking to know what's happening in our beautiful country.
I would value any feedback re personal experiences good/bad to know what to look at/avoid with Black Friday deals this week might be the Xmas present for the house :-)
With thanks,
Clare

OMG You terrible person… using a top loading washing machine.
The word "fascist" comes to mind….
How do you live with yourself?
We all have to chip in and do what’s best! Every bit helps
Scientists are mostly in agreement that the human race will be extinct in a few hundred years because of climate change.
It reminds me of people thinking they're doing something worthwhile by using glass straws.
How much energy/water do think it takes to mine the minerals/oil ship them to China build an additional washer and ship it to you?
Why not use phosphate free detergent and tip/plumb waste water onto the garden.I would say look up the manual of the machine you're thinking of buying, and check the wash times. You might be surprised.
I have a 10kg Samsung, and for a full load the rated time is 2 hoursAll F+P top loaders I have seen auto sense the required water level and adjust accordingly. They don't just fill the whole tub up.
Can vouch for this
Bosch are really durable. But i agree about capturing the water from the machine and putting it around the garden.
Bosch is all I'll buy in appliances of this size these days. They just keep working.
I've been really happy with my LG machines, though wish I had gone for a higher model heat pump dryer with better stars and app alerts. Washer has been excellent so far. https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/381518
Water gets recycled.
I do understand where you are coming from especially if you're in Sydney. I currently have a top loader F&P too but I reuse the water on the garden so I prefer that it is less water efficient (because it means my garden gets more water).
Fisher and Paykel make some Front Loaders which decent for water usage. Some of their models also have a functionality where you can add items to it after the cycle has started (it keeps the water below the door or something).
