Chronic anxiety has no redeeming features. It robs you of focus and clarity of mind, leaving you on edge or even fatigued. At best, you feel you are living life below par, at worst as if you are losing your mind.

•This self-help book draws upon neuroscience to show you what happens during an anxiety attack and why this understanding is key to your recovery.
•It shows how the brain is constantly changing due to neuroplasticity, and how you can use this remarkable mechanism to change the way your brain responds to anxiety.

•You will also learn how to change the way you react to difficult situations with 11 powerful exercises that you can implement from day one. Practice these for just 15 minutes each day for 14 days, and you will clear away the negative voice from your mind to power forward with positive thought and intention.

Melvin is obviously making a joke about anxiety.

great, i like jokes about anxiety, i joke about it all the time

As someone who suffers generalized anxiety disorder, panic disorder and obsessive compulsive disorder, I doubt this book can help me.
Or maybe it will, and my $10k spend on health and mental health related services this year was all for nothing.

If it’s CBT based it probably will help. CBT has been proven to help anyway, and that caused a flood of self help books in the late 20th century because it is something you can perform yourself, though a psychologist with experience with cbt could save you a lot of time.

        CBT, c**k and ball torture??

      • +1

I have GAD and I found the CBT approaches to be less helpful than the Mindfulness-based approaches, but everyone's different.

Doesnt work for everybody. Partner has it and has tried all the usual pyschological treatments with no success. Changing diet and targeting other health issues has helped the most and shows anxiety is a symptom of her other health issues.

I think I’d get bored if i didnt have an anxious mind.

    Step 1. Stop drinking coffee.

    • Step 2. Stop eating red meat.

    • wish it was that easy. But you're right, eliminating coffee can help. 1 a day for me isn't an issue, more than that is risky.

    • this. I only drink 1 in the mornings and thats my max. Even so with tense meetings in the morning I will skip coffee - makes a huge diff!

      • serious question, is tea fine? im a compulsive coffee drinker at work and while ive cut back from 6+ cups a day 1-2 sugars each to 2 or 3 with 1/4 sugar, iv found im creeping back up. i can drink tea but prefer coffee.

  • Life experience has taught me not to trust people that don't get anxiety. Psychopaths that give zero f's. I've seen women on testosterone therapy (for boosting their sex drive and "mood") become psychopathic, so I suppose it could work for anyone…

"Free Your Anxious Mind in Just 14 Days". Much quicker to pop a benzodiazepine (like Xanax) or an antipsychotic like Zypreza (olanzapine) or Chlorpromazine. Wait 2 hours for it to be absorbed from the gut and enter your CNS. Ethanol is even quicker.
