I used to be a big fan of these, that is until I managed to get HDMI Control CEC working properly across all my devices.
    Anyway great price and good product if you have the use case. These can be hit\miss if the appliance doesn't have a dedicated signals for actions such as;
    - dedicated button for each input (eg: not cycle through inputs)
    - separate on and off buttons (ie: not a toggle)

      HDMI Control CEC

Isn't that fraught with difficulties unless you buy everything from one brand though?

      • +1

In my limited experience, it works reasonably well across brands. (Panasonic - Sony - Samsung - Yamaha all talking to each other)

        • I've always had issues with things like volume using TV remote for my Yamaha amp whether it LG, Samsung or hisense tv

      • Yep, a bit of a lottery as to what works with what……

Personally I look for a TV with lots of HDMI inputs and tend to use that as the main choice for inputs, hoping that the one ARC channel works reliably. I have a small Business that really majors on IT but often get involved in AV setups too.

It can be, that is why I used these for many years.
Then I learnt not all HDMI cables are the same, and the importance of buying them at the correct standard.
Doesn't mean they have to be expensive, eg: I found a cheap cable from COTD labeled ARC, actually works with ARC. But with an existing high-quality cable, ARC wasn't working reliably. ie: some days it did, others it didn't. Same for the HDMI control.
Yes, works reasonably well across reputable brands (eg: LG, talking to Yamaha with a PlayStation. Starts to get iffy when you deal with some of the cheaper brands like Aldi TV's.
I am not suggesting HDMI Control CEC is for everyone or even perfect, but I can say when it works the experience is top notch superior than the Logitech.
eg: My TV doesn't have a dedicated signal for power on. So if the kids sat down to TV, every now and then the hi-fi would power on, but the TV wouldn't. So they hit power on the logitech and the tv goes on then the amp turns off. Or if the AMP doesn't have a specific signal for HDMI 1, for whatever reason may detect an additional input and the cycle would be out and the logitech has no idea how to get from HDM2 back to 1.
Not as kid\wife proof as HDMI Control (assuming HDMI Control works for your setup).

      Edit: irrelevant, different model.

IMHO it is a great remote that is ruined by it's "smart features". I just want my devices to stay in their places on the screen. Cannot be done with this smart remote.

Don't forget to price beat at Officeworks

  • These were going for $19 in Woolworths a few months ago.

  • Any good with nvidia shield ?

  • I've got a 650, are these almost as good other than the screen?

    • Basically the same thing without the screen

  • I think this would be awesome - if only it came with the code to control the Bauhn TV's that Aldi sell… Haven't been able to find it anywhere.

    • +1

You can search the database for your particular Bauhn TV model. I can see a few available. It can also learn new codes if you have the patience to teach it.

      • Database is a major plus for these remotes.

Bauhn are all rebadged devices from different manufacturers. So may not be on database under Bauhn. Codes from 1 TV may not function on a different model.

Had an unusual Japanese TV bought cheap because it lacked the remote (couldn't use TV!). Code was not on database, so contacted Harmony.

They searched their user database of codes copied from TV remote & set up the codes on my account.

Unfortunately still was missing 1 important code. Found a retailer with this model TV, took in Harmony & copied the code.

  • The Logitech software ~4 years ago when I had one with diabolical. The remote worked great when it was configured. Configuring or when it lost settings was not fun.

Be aware the 350 only has one activity (and you can't program any button withiin that activity), and AFAIK does not support sequences / macros.

IMO you're better off spending the extra ~$30 for a 650.

    • Yup, the 600 (if you can find one) or the 650 are substantially better and worth it for the screen.

  • This remote is great. Turns my dumb tv into a smart one by using this remote with Xbox One.

  • Officeworks has price matched Aldi. Same price on their website
