      • First decent jv comment I've seen all day.

  • The smiths chips have gone up in price 😑

Looks like im having a 100% chinese diet this week!

    Yum

    • Damn, my local sold out of the 1kg prawn dumplings:(

order online.. somehow there is stock for online orders

        • Good idea!

        • Yeah this is weird. My local was out of stock on all the 50% off dumplings, dim sum, pork buns etc. Checked online and they have all of them listed as 'in-stock' for the same store.
It was the same thing last week as well with the Sirena tuna 50% off offer, none in store (at all) but all 'in-stock' online.
          Grabbed a bunch online instead.

    Man
How did Woolworths know I liked to get toasted on sat night?

    I'm all over these bitches

The last time I had those gyoza I ended up getting the worst case of food poisoning I've ever had. Just seeing the thumbnail of the post makes me nauseous!

    • +4

That's not good. Been having them every couple of days for years with no problems so far. Maybe yours had been defrosted at some point.

Gyoza is more suited to asian stomach?

      • eat more asian food and your stomach will be right.

Maybe don't eat it right out of the package.. ? Microwave, boil or pan fry them first.

    • +4

these dumplings are precooked at the factory so there is no way you are getting food poisoning from eating raw pork/chicken/seafood etc
      could be something else though

      • Depends how the food is handled after cooking.

        • +2

true, but if it was the factorys fault, there would be a lot more people getting sick and there would be a food product safety recall, or whatever the official name for it is

@Samsungnote10: Have an upvote to cancel the neg some d**khead gave you for a perfectly reasonable comment.

              @ifonlyiwasyounger: Appreciate it.
              I have a hospitality background

And food poisoning complaints are the hardest/easiest to deal with.

Everyone thinks they know where they got the food poisoning from, and are quick to point, but in reality its rarely obvious

we have bought those gyoza for years and never had an issue with it, however in saying that we usually make our own (dumplings)

  • Thanks for posting. Is it the full list, like Samgee does?

I really like the direct hyperlinks to products. Very nice touch!

    • Thank you! It is not the full list (trying to keep it simple & clutter-free), but I did try to choose the ones that are rare/popular. To be fair, this week has quite a number of really good deals. It is quite a challenge to choose only a few!

  • Coles occasionally do the KB Gyozas at half price which from memory is about $9. Pretty good IMHO, better than the ALDI ones which are full price around $10.

      Different pack size - $8 per 750g ($10.67/kilo).

This works out cheaper by 2c per kilo!

    • +1

Aldi ones are made in Aus from mostly Aus ingredients, which is important to me.
      Cheers for the post OP.

Been smashing HK Pork Buns for weeks now. Cheap $2.50 lunch (heating up while in bag also makes it very convenient)

    • You eat all 6 for lunch?

      • Yep! 3 is equivalent to 1 normal bun

        • So each bun you can gobble down with one mouthful

    • Would like a photo to compare to what you get at Yum Cha places

      • They are about 40mm in diameter

  • Thanks OP - well-structured and very helpful post.

  • gotta love Woolies, Four N Twenty Cheese n Bacon pies with the HK Pork Dimsims.. yes eaten together at half price.. =). stocking up again on these.

  • Are the pork dim sims any good?

    • Love the gyoza but the dim sums are way too salty. Makes me salty…

    • if you eat them with the chilli sauce you get at YumCha places you cant tell the difference, and to me they are tasty.. not salty at all.

    • Yes, but you're better off buying the 1.75kg dim sim for double the price (when it's also on sale it's $5. Normal price is $10) link

    • Our family likes pork dim sims the best. Add 3-4 into pot while cooking ramen….add a handful of beans or broccoli and top with a soft boil/poached egg. It's an easy mid week dinner.

  • I recall woolies repeatedly announcing 1/2 price gyoza and the gentleman didn't even pronounce it correctly in store.
It was funny while he was cooking them as well at a booth.

If they still make $ at half price pretty sure they are at a very low cost

    • Haha how did he pronounce it

      • +1

Goa zzaa literally. Like broken English like someone who doesn't even know about the product and its origin just learning Japanese or Chinese that kind of tone

  • Day 2 of the sale and KB Gyoza sold out at my local :(
Such good value at this price

    • I'm so happy when they sell out. Get a raincheck!
