I not to sure of this, I think I have Xbox live gold to 2021, i don’t want to be paying for Xbox game pass ultimate until then.

From there, go via Cashrewards for the $1 Ultimate, and Microsoft will convert your current Live Gold Stockpile.
I only went 2 years, but you can get up to 3.

I think so. I get the same thing as you unfortunately. It's still good value at $15.95, but I would rather pay $1. I have too much to play as it is.

I did get the three months tacked onto my existing $1 trial though. Now have to remember to avail of that AMD promotion giving another 3 months of it.
I'm signed up to Gamepass Ultimate till Jan 2021 (bought cheapest Gamepass & Gold codes from cdkeys). A PC would really make this worth it for cross platform free gameplay. Once signed up conversion rates lose a little bit :-
