$4000 Cashback When Refinancing Your Mortgage (>$250k) Online with St. George

1931

Refinance cashback doubled from $2000 to $4000 for online applications.

Summary of deal:
"Get one $4,000 Refinance Cashback plus $2,000 cashback per additional property refinanced when you apply online by 31 January 2020 and settle by 31 March 2020. Available on Basic Home Loans and Advantage Package loans ($395 package fee, $0 fee for Basic home loan). Excludes Owner Occupier loans with interest only repayments and refinances from within Westpac Group. Min. loan size $250k per property."

I would like to make it clear that the in order to be eligible for the additional $2000 on top of the original $2000, the application must be online (not via broker or in-store).
The rebate is paid 60 days after settlement, with no clawback.

I was going to take the $2000 standard St George refinance cashback in addition to cashback offered from a broker over a 24 month period (whom may go bankrupt or not pay-up), until I saw this updated offer yesterday. I canceled my application with the broker and have had my application online with St George confirmed as eligible for the $4000 rebate.

Also of mention: the lending Manager assigned to me is asking for a better rate than the default 3.44% (given you apply online there is no way to negotiate during your initial application). Apparently 3.1X% should be achievable on the Package.

Enjoy!

Update: I've been given 3.04% with ~70% LVR on ~$300k loan (Package).

          • @MyLoginName: The app isn’t great. I feel it logs you out every week or so as well after which you’ll have to dig up your customer account number again. Yesterday I got a push notification for a deposit which then wasn’t visible at all in the app or on the site, it only properly registered there this morning. Also find it annoying you have to sign and hand in a form to set up something as simple as ‘pay-in-full’ direct debit for your credit card. What I do like is that you can set or change your card’s PIN in the app and that the call centre was able to link my offset to my ‘savings’ option on my credit card (one less card in my wallet).

    • How did you work out it wasn't setup as offset? My account is called "complete freedom offset" however, i havent had any interest charged yet so wouldnt know if it's setup right in the back end.

      • +2

        It'll just be "complete freedom".

As Viper8 mentioned, my account said "Complete Freedom" initially - when I called the customer care, they changed it to offset account and told me it would show "complete freedom offset" once done.

Thanks. I guess I was lucky that it was already set up.

  • Did anyone receive their credit card bonus points which you took as part of this loan freedom package ?
I just want to know if we are eligible to get bonus points for a packaged credit card?

    • My Lending Manager told me that we are eligible for bonus points, let's see how it goes. have not received credit card yet tho as they processed it after settlement.

  • I've been waiting for 3 weeks after I signed all paperwork incl fastrefi. No updates from my lending manager since. I rang St George but they redirect me back to the branch. Is there an 'online' team I can chase up?

    • 3 weeks is long time! I would call Home Loan team and ask for your Lending Manager's Supervisor or ask if he/ she is on leave then someone might be acting.

  • 80% OO loan with BoM, just been offered 3.02%, down to 2.77% with the rate cut.

The greatest no brainer I've ever seen.

    • Westpac Banking Group pass on full cut, effective on 17th March.

  • I applied online around 7th janury and still haven't recieved the documnets to sign. Extreamly slow processing. If the bank can't settle by 31/03 due to delay at their part, will i still be eligible for $4k rebate?

    • Seriously that’s insane. I would be giving the lending manager the hurry up.

      • Got the documents and the lending manager confirmed that the settlement can happen before 30th April and i will be eligible for $4k

  • Hey Guys,

    Anyone received cashback recently?

My loan was settled on 24th Feb 2020 and still waiting for cashback, I understand they say 60 days but most of fellows here received it within 3 weeks?

    Thanks :)

Mine settled mid Feb and the cashback was paid about 2 and a half weeks later. They apparently do them in batches on a Friday, so hopefully you'll see yours tomorrow.

  • Has anyone successfully refinanced out to ANZ or NAB for their $4k refi offers after successfully refi to St George during this promotion?

    • I am waiting for Cashback and then will try.

    • I left NAB for this deal so I wonder if I could just go back?

  • I am tempted to jump with ANZ 2 year fixed. Got settled with St George on 6th Jan and got 4k. Trying to figure out claw back before I decide to jump.

    • Got Cashback. Wohooo finally.

Called NAB, they said wait for lender to call you.

Please let us know if there is any claw back.
What rate ANZ is offering for two year fixed?

      • +1

        2.19 for 2 years.

        • That’s tempting, I don’t think rate can start increasing in next two years so not a bad idea to fix for 2 years. I am thinking to consider too.

          • @MyLoginName: But not sure if there is a clawback with St George

            • +1

@ady211: Have to find out in detail but shouldn’t be , just normal exit fee and govt fees - I’ll try to find out though.

              • @MyLoginName: As soon as I know will jump will keep a close eye

                • @ady211: I have applied for ANZ. Part fixed and part variable (2.19 and 2.84).

  • CBA has also reduced to 2.29% for fixed rate.

  • For joint account holders, has anyone been able to get 2 (Signature) credit cards for free linked to the offset package where the home loan is in 2 names (so 1 card in each name)? Both ANZ and Nab offered this but St George seems to be unclear on this topic.

    • With WBC they certainly wouldn't allow it, just signed docs to refinance to ANZ so that does sound good thanks
