Cheers, got a pair with a minute to spare!
*Now price (for 24hrs) is 1xRLC-420 for 45.04 USD = $66 AUD
Ok cameras but motion detection on these things is garbage. Goes off all the time on a windy day but won't detect a human walking towards it.
It does have a 4.6 star review in Gadgetguy
https://www.gadgetguy.com.au/product/reolink-argus-2-the-wi-…
Its not as good as Arlo but Arlo ones are far expensive.
Looking at the reviews the Argus 2 has static audio on recorded video, live stream is fine though.
Anyone have any experience with these cameras?Detailed review

I have the uniden first gen (I believe the uniden and reolink are identical) and I'm happy with them. If that helps you make your decision.
Edit: I should note I only paid 50 dollars per unit so my expectations were low.
Was the Uniden Wire-free ? If so, can you send me a link.
Yes, got them in another deal thanks to ozbargain.
Been using the Argus 2 for 5 months, pretty happy with it
Has been occasionally offline but majority of times work
Enabling the live stream with Google Home Display (eg. Google Nest Hub) is a bonus! The model I bought on Aliexpress is with the solar panel
Paid around A$160 for both the camera and solar panel
So far the camera is always keep battery charged at 100%Lastly, really like the wide angle of the camera
Setting at the corner of my front door
It is able to shot my door till the entire double garage doorI have the Argus Pro which is the cheaper version.
The goods :
Battery lasts several months with one charge
Image is very clear during the day
It comes with strap that allow mounting w/o drilling holes in the wall, can mount on a tree or poleThe bads :
Image during night not as clear
The alarm last only about 5seconds when triggered
It starts to capture video a few seconds after it is triggered - if someone walks very fast pass the camera, the video won't catch the culpritI had some false alarms initially. After playing with the sentivity setting, I haven't encountered any false triggering.
My camera is more than a year old. The newer cameras or the Argus 2 possibly might not have the same problems that I encountered
I put 4 up with solar last Saturday. The fact that I didn’t have to run any wires I was the deal sealer for me. Strap it to a pole, a tree, down pipe whatever.
Quality is pretty good and I’m happy with them as a whole.
Can it be used with NVR software (i.e BlueIris)?
Argus 2 no
Basically any Reolink cameras that are battery operated will not support continues streaming (eg RTSP) due to battery consumption
Does this have local storage? Or do we have to get a subscription like the Ring systems - that was the biggest turn off for me
Can store recordings on a micro sd card and no subscription needed. I believe you need a subscription if you opt to use their cloud service for the recordings.
My main gripe with the camera is that the connection is really inconsistent. I'll load the app and it'll often say 'connection failed' but then loads after a few re-tries. It also can take a long time to load a recording just to view it. Could be to do with me using a Google Wifi setup and the camera not supporting 5ghz. The puck it's connecting to isn't the primary but it's literally 2.5-3m from the door where the camera sits outside.
Over all though it was good for the price. The battery lasts us 2-3 months before needing a recharge.
I am having pretty bad experience when using smart devices with mesh network, tried both ASUS AIMesh and google wifi, some of my Lifx light keep dropping signals
Eventually I give up google wifi and change my ASUS routers back to AP mode and everything works perfectly
There's only 1 solar panel left on Amazon and the codes don't work for the reolink website
The coupon for panels works only in Amazon.
The link to the Amazon panels seems to go to a camera+panel combo.
Perhaps the panels are OOS?
So what's the best/cheapest way to record with these?
Is it designed to record once it senses motion? Is there a way to have it record continuously and does anyone know how much recording time you'd get on a 100gb MicroSD for example? Thanks for the advice already given above, I just got one after reading people's thoughts.
Not possible to record continuously
I dont think any battery model can record continuously - you would have to recharge the battery every few days (rather than months) which is far too inconvenient.
And if you are going to run a power cable you may as well just run a network cable and use a 5 megapixel or 4K PoE camera.
I thought with the solar power+battery combo you might be able to get continuous recording to a cloud or something over wifi.
Thanks for heads up.
So it basically just senses motion/movement then starts recording?
Does this actually come with free cloud storage? I don't think there is a mention of this on the website (unless I missed it!)
If so, does it store both cameras or just one?
No free cloud, sd card
Free cloud storage for 7 days for 1 camera
wow, so you get free storage with 7 days of history and it resets? Or just a 7 day free trial?
Thanks for the info, very much appreciated. Please check this page https://cloud.reolink.com/
Anyone got the link to the $37 solar panels? Doesn't seem to be working above.
Maybe, you can purchase it from the Reolink website itself as its out of stock in Amazon.
OOS
I brought the last one yesterday.
I got 4 solar panels for 102.56$ USD shipped or 150 AUD roughly after using the NEW10OFF code so happy with that.
Still active, it hasn’t expired
US$77 for 2x RLC-420 (a 2-pack) = AU$112 incl delivery = $56 each.
