I believe that the RAM is soldered on. As for Surface Laptop and Pro X, it seems the SSD is upgradable but it's advised to be done by an authorised technician.
Why not Surface pro X?
I'm going to assume it's because the Pro X isn't even out yet, it's only pre-order.
For that price I will wait and buy Pro X instead.
Probably not

X's slim pen and type cover are ridiculously expensive too
Microsoft website has 15% off …
Does anyone know if you combine this with the 10% student discount?
Nah, tried this before and know a few others who have as well. They won't let you.
Microsoft Website has 15% off too, but doesn't stack with their student discount. You can however make use of the spend $500, get $100 cashback AMEX offer.
Thanks op!
Just bought one (i7 256GB 16GB ram platinum) @ JB & paid using some gift cards.
I've also bought the signature type cover ($200 instead of $250) and arc mouse ($86 instead of $118).
i got my surface laptop 3 base black model for $1720.. think I could get a refund and and get it for $1600 at jbhifi?
I bought a pixel 3 around 6 day before the sale and I went back to ask if I could get the discount. They said yes and refunded to my card. Talk with the staffs and they would probably get the manager to do it for you.
lel actually it is $1700 excl AMEX… idk if its worth the $20 to go back and ask sincei t's been 20 days.
posting for the first time. Was able to strike a deal at jb hi-fi on pro 7, i5, 128GB for $1323, will be claiming gst as flying out. The original price was $1278 +$199for type cover, a discount of $150 to match $100 amex cash back.
I guess this is a good deal on the machine…
Does this have removable/up-gradable RAM?
