    Why always this place???

    • A lot of car enthusiasts drive past the area, Glenny Kebabs used to be packed on Wednesdays with 98 full fiends

      • +1

        kebabs any good?

  • +2

Due to out of stock of U91

Blackburn Road location in Glen Waverly

  • +1

Lowest since Oct 27. Good deal.

    • +5

      Oct 26th 5:14pm 128.9 changed to 148.9 but whos keeping a record 🤣

      • That price was the best price, especially when 98 was so high at the time

  • +14

For the OCD amongst us, 36L costs you exactly $50

    • +2

Yet the app didn't let me lock in 36L with $50 in credit. Had to go 1L lower to 35

      • +5

Well not exactly $50 for locking in fuel in app. It is $50.004 hence why the xers can't lock in 36 litres exactly. Every 0.001 counts 1.389

  • +2

Obligatory comment about just going past here

    Thanks OP! ;)

  • +11

    My local woolly's #98 $147.9 at the moment (#95 is $140.9),
    with 4c off shopping docket = $143.9,
paying with 5% discount WISH giftcard = $136.7
even cheaper, no GPS hacking required :)

    • Can get 6% off woolies wish

      • +1

Wow 1%. lol.. ok, for the ozb spirit, do tell please

        • the orange 1% cashback thingo?

      • apparently 7-11 fuel (mobil) is superior to anything else out, happy to head other opinions

      • I finally got my 10% wishcards from GG concierge.

    • Congrats, but I have to go to your woolies, have a docket and also a wish gift card?

No gps hacking needed and I still get the 7/11 discount, but yeah 2c more equals $1 not saved for me.

      • I understand, I didn't mean people need to come to my wollies.
Just sharing information that my local shop has this price, and there might be other woolies following in a day or two, I hope.
for those don't live in that area and find it difficult to trick the gps, there might be a change to save the few bucks at woolies with those steps.
        I upped OP's deal, absolutely.

  • My car can take 91. Is it worth it to pump 98?

    • +6

probably not but if its the same price why not

    • +3

Not really worth it when you can get U91 cheaper for 125.9 which is a big enough price difference to not bother with the slight mileage improvement if that is the only advantage you going for

      • Some cars require a minimum 95 so a bargain for them.

        • +2

Mine requires 95 (350z). You can get U95 1 cent cheaper 137.9 Kings Park NSW. But for such a small difference in price I will opt for U98.

But price difference between your car needing U91 and this deal for U98 is definitely not worth it.

    • +3

You might get a bit more responsiveness and fuel economy, if so it will be a slight improvement. But then again you might not.
However there are better additives in 98, so it will be good for your engine regardless.

    • +6

I always heard use 98 once or twice to clean out the engine, but just stick with what the manufacturer recommends. But I'm a guy on the internet, I could be talking out my arse.

    • +7

Research Octane Numbers refer to the ability to resist early detonation for higher compression ratios, which are found in high performance cars.

Compression ratios can only be changed if you tune your car.
Otherwise, compression ratios are defined by your combustion chamber and cylinder, both of which, do not change unless you have a car that has a variable compression ratio (like the Mazda Skyactiv engines)

Cars will not adjust for an available higher compression ratio if it was designed for 91.
If it does, it would have to be able to do so with either a knock sensor (which lowers the compression ratio by detecting premature detonation, i.e. your fuel exploding when it shouldn't, yet), or by tuning the car.

Unless you are tuning your car, or your car will automatically increase the compression ratio until the fuel starts exploding prematurely (most cars will not, because that means your engine is getting damaged), then no, 98 will not give any performance enhancements over 91, if your car can accept 91.

98 fuel usually has additives added by the fuel station brand that can clean the fuel injectors though

      • +1

the proof is in the pudding though, most people will tell you they get a boost in performance and responsiveness as well as better fuel economy.

        • +1

Most people are swayed also by gossip and the good old "if it costs more - it should be better"
Let's take knife brands as an example, Victorinox kitchen knives are around $60-$80 and can easily rival the performance of $100-$200 knives. It's not always about the brand and pricing, it's about the actual content.

Tuners commonly claim BP ultimate has better fuel.. yet there's many stories (including my colleague) that claims all the fuel comes from the same refinery, just the additives from each brand is different.

Also, RON has nothing to do with energy density of the fuel, it's purely compared to the mixture of iso-octane and heptane's anti-knocking characteristics. "RON 91" = Has the same anti-knock characteristics of 91% iso-octane & 9% heptane mixture.

          • +1

@cwongtech: I was actually swayed by the gossip online about Victorinox knives, glad I bought one.

I've used racing fuel in the US, 100 octane where their highest is generally 91 (different grading system). It made a noticeable difference, even on a shitty V6 Mustang.

  • +2

Always strange that this is within the natural range. Why is it always weekends they run out? It's not the busiest station in oz

    • +1

Not often enough. They should do it every 2 weeks.

  • +1

Or 125.9 for 91 in Blacktown NSW.

  • Thanks OP. Waiting for this deal.

  • -8

    98 is 143.9 in Blacktown NSW - so 50litres = $2.50 savings?

    • +4

      Ok.

        • +8

You don't understand how this works do you?

          • -1

@ezz88: Well he is saving $2.50 on 50L from this deal if his local 7/11 has it for 143.9..

  • Hmm… Should I lock now or wait till tomorrow. My car fuel gauge still read 3/4..

    • +7

download a coin flipping app on your phone, it will solve all of your life's problems.

    • Last time the price kept dropping, so it's a gamble.
Not really any advantage of waiting, the price may increase.

      • +1

It's not a gamble if you have 3 accounts. 21 days worth of fuel lock.

        • +1

Yeah good tip. I tried making a second account and it wouldn't accept the payment info.
Bit of an investment to have multiple accounts as each will need a deposit.

        • Doesn’t the fuel lock expires in 7 days?

  • Cheaper than Boysoy milk and taste better

    • +1

Why the shade @ bonsoy chumlee? Also, petrol is bad for you. mmmk

  • Their 91 is out and they have no 95 so I'm guessing they're doing this to keep business going? Anyway topped up car and 25l jerry. Thanks op

    • +1

yes they can't just shut down the service station / refuse to give 91 petrol because it isn't available. too many hondas to fill up in glen waverly

  • +1

    U98 139.9 11-Seven Clontarf

  • Thanks op
    Been waiting for this deal

  • +1

Anyone else have locking in issues? Keep getting error Lima when paying with credit card. Extremely frustrating. Suppose an alternative is top up with 7/11 Gift card.

    • I had errors locking in 36 litres with 50$ balance because its like 50.004, if this is you just do 1 litre less

    • Yeah used to get that. It's a server issue. Either Change your cc or wait it out.

  • Thanks OP I just locked in after my drive from Sydney !

  • Price back to 157.9c per litre

  • game over

  • +1

I just locked in at OPs price. Seems alright to me still

  • Ah.. I know why.
It’s the 396-398 Blackburn Road, Glen Waverley servo.. not the one on Springvale / Waverley road. My bad

  • +1

Price is still 138.9. Just locked in. Thanks OP

  • +2

Just removed my old card to add my new one, top up and grab this deal and I get an error, have to wait 24 hours to add a new card. How stupid.

    • Create new account

  • I managed to lock in this price at 9.40am. This deal is still working

  • Yep, also just locked in at 10.45am so get in while the going's good!

  • Still works!

    • BTW, I paid $1.21/l yesterday, in Sydney - this is not a good price.

      For premium 98? You know there's different fuel types right? E10, 91, 95, 98

98 has a ~20c premium on top of the E10 price displayed..

    • +1

Doubt you fueled up yesterday U98 for $1.21. Proof of this amazing price otherwise inappropriate use of neg vote.

The cheapest U98 @7/11 recently was $128.9 which expired on 26 October 5:14pm. Since then this has been the cheapest 7/11 U98 price

    • Haters only use E10 for sure

      • Wow! That's your take?

    • You got ripped off. 50c/L in Melbourne at Puma station

      • Should have driven all the way to Melbourne… wouldn't cost me more than 200 liters of fuel.

  • Looks like price has been updated?

    • +2

Clontarf is 139.9cpl if you need

      • Thankyou
