eBay Store Hack? Creality Ender-3 for $90?

https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Creality-3D-Printer-CR-10-300X30…

So I hopped on this morning to look for bargains on 3d printers, found the following and ordered up 8 of them -
Looking through the sellers other items there are other listings for the ender-3 and even cr-10 mini for similar prices, however all other items appear to be normal price. The seller looks to have good feedback and has been established for ages in Australia

I just recieved the order confirmation email.

I had noticed that there were 2 items remaining on the link i posted above, the seller updated just 5 min ago and has more listed at this stage -

Pretty sure if it is a hack or massive price error paypal should have me covered, has anyone seen something similar?

Cheers!

Rob

  • Bought 25.

    • As you do :D

      • Let us know what happens :)

  • It says ender 3 in the list but the item description is a CR-10
Edit: I'm wrong, it says ender 3 under machine type at checkout

  • ordered 1 even though I have no time to play with it.

  • It has me worried (Well it did from the start) - but each time people buy them they keep increasing the available amount - I would have felt much better if they had ceased selling the item

    • +1

No need to worry. Just to a Paypal refund if it doesn't work out.

    • They've stopped increasing it… Showing as out of stock now. Good luck :D

      • BS everyone can still buy 10 .

  • Bought 1, what are we expecting to happen here?

  • ordered, see if it works out or we all get refunds

  • I'm guessing a price error/mislabeled item. Expect refunds

  • I've received a shipping confirmation already, unlikely though. Surely that requires human interaction?

  • Yep same - It could be that the account was hacked and there is a person progressing all the orders?

  • +1

Yep, shipping confirmation received and "the seller" left positive feedback for the purchase. Can't wait to see how this all pans out :-p

    • Interesting - I am reading the feedback that onemillion have left for people (There are a bunch from today for ender-3's) - It is the same feedback as used over the past few months

  • I'm assuming these will be drop shipped from china, wonder if it'll be caught by someone before their supplier processes it.

  • Out of stock again on Ender3

  • Looks like the listing that i posted has now gone - There are more listings in their shop tho

  • And now they are all gone :( Lets see what happens from here

    • +1

If someone how the orders get through I'm buying you a beer.

  • I just got an email from them telling me the product 'has some quality problems' so they aren't selling them - giving refunds instead

    • Same email received

  • Just got this message through Ebay's messaging system from the seller.

    >

Our colleague decide to send your item out .
But very sorry to inform you, we tested it , and found these products has some quality problem.
    We finally withdraw the shipping.
    We have connected our supplier.
So we temporarily can’t send you this item.
And the arrival of the next batch’s products will be 25-40 days later.
How about we refund to you first?
Really sorry for all the troubles for you.
I think you can choose a better product later.
Note: If you received ship info from eBay,please ignore it, because only customer paid to us, eBay will be send info you

Reckon should wait 25-40 days, or will it never come (and 25-40 days is just an excuse) ?

    • Should we take the refund or wait ?

    • -1

Im waiting 25-40 days stuff that :) I have ordered 8 so the savings are massive - Though yes it probably will just get cancelled

      • Quite a pity - I was getting really pumped up about getting a 3D printer!

        • I was looking forward to getting 8 - Oh well - Keep an eye out on the creality printers they are good units, a lot of learning to do, but they do an amazing job - I started with ender-3 last Xmas and now have 4 creality printers - You'll occasionally see ender-3 go to $220 with a coupon on ebay

          • +1

            @robf300: Thanks.
$220 is a sight more than $91 though!
            I live for the bargain!

    • I've replied saying that I am happy to wait the 25-40 days for the product. :)

    • Got this one back after I said I'm happy to wait.

We would like to resend to you, but our workmate told to us that this product was sold out several days before, we will have a new bulk after 40days, we think it's better to refund you firstly, we will inform you once available, ok?

      • I got exactly the same, and said 'I am happy to wait 40 days for such a good price, let me know when you can confirm shipment'
        They replied 'Great thank you'

The insistence on 40 days felt quite suspicious.

The time period you have to raise a dispute is 45 days after shipment. Any longer and ebay/paypal don't care. With the messages so far, I can easily see them saying that they meant 40 business days or maybe a bit longer because of christmas etc. and then blocking you after taking their time to respond.

I'm a bit conflicted here, if the seller had just come out and said that it was a pricing error rather than making the excuse I would have been happy to initially accept the refund (would have been a seller initiates cancellation on behalf of buyer). But they've made excuses hoping that we'd accept in order to avoid having to cancel on their end, getting negative feedback and getting a strike against their account.

I don't particularly care about getting the printer at this stage (was a shot in the dark) but the sellers methods to try and get out of this is pretty slimy.

          • @GUYANDSON: Won't it be possible to raise a paypal dispute if that happens ?

          • @GUYANDSON: Or maybe they are just trying to avoid bad feedback by waiting till we are unable to leave feedback for the transaction.

            • @Zoop: Paypal will point you in the direction of ebay who won't care (have dealt with this before as a buyer and a seller) as you had 45 days to raise issue.

Did a bit of digging around, there are some dropshipping suppliers who have stock here in Aus. Everyone receiving an order shipping confirmation, was probably the order being sent to said supplier. Where the pricing mistake happened, who knows.

              • @GUYANDSON: I noted they marked mine as shipped as well, I've asked them for a tracking number. I'm wondering I suspect we won't see a printer either.

  • Same email

  • Sent out is sent out isn't it?

    • +3

It’s obviously an excuse to not honour the price (instead of just admitting the mistake)

      • +1

I think it's because if they admit the mistake it's a cancellation not a refund and you can give them a bad review for a cancellation.

  • Same email as above. I think we won't be getting our printers

  • Seller has almost 98% positive feedback which is a safe position for me when I am buying things there.
Other than that, if you used PayPal as it appears it will refund you if there is any problem/fraud in the process.

Just wait and see how it goes. There is no much to do right now really.

  • Yep email recieved - Apparently quality issues are to blame (I have had this before when I purchased a cheap stepper motor) -
I'm going to email back and say send it anyway

  • So i've had several emails back and forth with the seller and I am insisting that I will wait 40 days in order to get the new stock -
Does an Ebay seller get a strike against them for cancelling an order on their side due to pricing error? They seem desperate for me to cancel the purchase

  • Make sure to leave negative feedback/report them to eBay. It could just be a way for the seller to borrow a quick couple of thousand dollars for free.

  • +1

I had an eBay seller drag a sale (worth $1000+) for over a month promising delivery and in the end I couldn't lodge an eBay money back claim because it was over their provided protection period. Then had to go through PayPal and fortunately got the money back because the scammy seller never responded. Looking at all the negs the seller received later on clearly he had done the same to a fair few buyers. Lesson learnt.

  • I opened an item not received case and the seller kept trying to wait it out by copy and pasting the same message. The seller claims to have sent the item so he kept saying "I'll refund you if you pay it back when you receive the item. Don't leave negative feedback".

Pretty sure the seller just never sent the item

  • So, hows everyone going with this one ?
I'm still hounding the seller for the item….

    • I ended up talking to the seller via another listing for the same item, asking them if it was in stock. The reply was "All the product information is there", which I took as a yes since it showed several in stock under that listing.
So I lodged a dispute saying I still wanted the item but it hadn't arrived. The seller asked me again if I wanted a refund but sent the refund through immediately before I could reply.
So I gave them negative feedback and they've been nagging me daily to change it.
