Galcon AC-800248 OUTDOOR MODULAR CONTROLLER 24 Zones FOR LANDSCAPE & AGRICULTURE and IRRIGATION

Galcon’s AC 800024 is a modular irrigation system, supplied with 8 stations the controller can be expanded to 24 stations using 4 station modules. While including fertigation and lighting functionalities the controller offers two methods of operation from the same controller. Both options can run simultaneously the first option allows for choosing three programs A, B, C. Each program can be set either according to days of the week or to a cycle. It can easily operate up to 24 valves. The second option allows the user individual programming for each station allowing maximum flexibility across all 24 stations.

FERTIGATION SUPPLEMENT (F)

Fertilising time is set separately for each valve. Fertilizer is added according to irrigation duration from 10% to 90% of the specific valve irrigation on time. Fertiliser will always be added in the middle of the valve on time.

Example:- A valve has been set with a run time of 60 minutes, fertilising is set for 20%.Regular irrigation will be operated for the first 24 minutes (without fertiliser)Subsequently fertiliser will be added for the next 12 minutes (20% of the scheduled time)Regular irrigation will continue for the last 24 minutes and then move onto next station in sequence.

The period of watering before fertiliser starts is sometimes explained as pre-wash (before fertiliser)
The period of combined watering and fertiliser adding is sometimes explained as feeding
The period of watering after fertiliser has stopped is sometimes explained as wash-in (after fertiliser)

Good deal. The only thing I don't like about galcon is their online portal. Its based on silverlight spew

Any deals on D8 or D12 dosatrons?

    • Unfortunately, we don't sell Dosatron product. We sell Orbit, Hunter and Galcon controllers.

  • Do these things really cost that much…. like is this top of the line or medium ? Slowly gotta look into this stuff..
Also is there a good demonstration of this in action of what it can do in a video format? Cheers ^^

    • I'd say this is bottom of the line - We use two of these http://h2oshoponline.com.au/galcon-gsi-24station.

We can log into our fertigation system from our phone etc etc

    • 8 Station usually goes for $400+ but if you are lucky you can find them between $310 - $320. However, this one is 1 * 8 Station + 4 * 4 Stations , so altogether 24 stations. So this the cheapest as it gets. Unfortunately, there are no videos related to this specific controller.

Better buy imo rachio V2, also connects to smartthings etc. I have them at my houses. Btw h20shop is brilliant to deal with.

    • I have no idea where the Galcon stands in the scheme of things but going by the price I can only assume it's a high-end device. I've gone through quite a few sprinkler controllers over the last 20+ years, some cheap and some very expensive but they've all been klunky and have eventually failed after a few years for some reason even though I've only ever needed them for very basic domestic systems. The BEST unit by far from a feature and quality perspective is the latest one I pressed into service about 2.5 years ago, an Orbit B-Hyve. Got mine from the US and converted it to 240V as they weren't sold here at that time but lucky for you they're now sold here… 240V and ready to Plug & Play! Bunnings sell the 6-Station model for about $200 and they also have the 12-Station model for $50 more. They're excellent, excellent, excellent controllers and have the added ability to program, edit & monitor your irrigation via an App both locally and over the internet. This model also has buttons and a screen onboard so if something dodgy happens to your Wifi (or the Wifi interface fails) you can still control everything you need from its own panel however there are also cheaper models available elsewhere (eBay etc.) that are 'App-only' controlled. Best bit is that it uses local weather reports & forecasts to inject rain delays into your program which I doubted at first but works surprising well. Can't recommend them highly enough!

ozbargain really has everything .. from toilet roll.. to .. irrigation system … :D

  • We are building a house and thinking about irrigation in the future. Do I need to put a power point next to the outdoor tap i will run everything from?

    • Depends. You can mount your irrigation controller inside the house wherever you want then run long lengths of 24V cable out to each of your solenoids but of course that method requires easy access to run the cable all over the place. Alternatively you could get a GPO out near the water source and use an outdoor rated controller there and only need short lengths of cable to the bank of solenoids. You could also mix & match those two concepts and have the controller mounted somewhere outside near a GPO and ONE of the water sources but then run long lengths of 24V cable to each of the solenoids close to the particular zone & water source elsewhere as that would save you having to run heaps of black irrigation pipe all over the place. Really up to you, your limitations and how you want to do it but yes as you're already building a house I'd personally get GPOs installed wherever you think you may ever need power in the future then you've covered yourself for all scenarios even if you don't end up going that way. A 15A GPO within the meter box is an excellent addition BTW! So handy & versatile even if you only end up using it once or twice.

  • Hey REP, I just realised you also sell the Orbit B-Hyves. Maybe do a deal on those and maybe even a few options with bundled solenoids and reels of cable? Surely there's enough fat in those prices to beat Bunnings?! Pretty sure most OzBargainers would jump at a B-Hyve and all its versatility versus the other old-skool controllers… even if they are commercial grade.

I wish I could but ever since Bunnings started to sell Orbit B-hyves, we can't sell it at a lower price. Because our supplier supplies to Bunnings and they have deal with them. They have marked up the prices for us and we are not allowed to sell anything lower than Bunnings.
Just 6 months ago 6 station bhyve used to sell around $190.00 and 12 stations used to be around $230. But now everything has changed.

      • Ah no! Sorry to hear that :( Surely if you made your own exclusive controller & solenoid bundle pack then you couldn't be done for directly undercutting their prices?!

That would be called price fixing, and illegal in Australia…
