      Thats true, but I think this is the most important of them all.

      I don't really care about the security updates of my Xiaomi Air Purifier or vacuum for example.

        Do you know that Nasa got screwed because an inoffensive Raspberry Pi was connected into their network??

        Someone with enough knowledge can explore your vacuum with out of date software, and grant access to it and do God knows what.
        This is the nowadays problems with the "internet of things". Everything has WiFi, NFC, Bluetooth and none has security precautions.

        I spent $2k+ with my smart TV and guess what? Anyone close can see it and try to mirror anything to it. In the same way, anyone can explore it and try to have access to my network. The only solution I had was to change its name to something stupid and of course, the default PIN.

        In my building, 90% use the default wifi network name which tells you their provider, which tells you their default wifi passwords, which tells you which router they use, which tells you the default admin access to the router and nobody changes it, which tells you what vulnerabilities they might have, which allow someone with free time to have some fun.

    Yeah I had the white plastic one I was using as a Wireless AP, and it would call home all the time. I blocked it at my router and the wifi stopped working after a few minutes. So if it can't call home it just stops working. I found a build of dd-wrt for it and it was a pretty good unit.

  if you do buy something from fast tech use the expedited aus express its normally only a couple dollars more and you'll get your package in about a week

  it turns into an eparcel when it hits australia so you can track it and its a touch faster than epacket

  Specs is no better than aging RT-AC68U (actually looks weaker with a weaker CPU) which you can find around this price for a grey import that you can flash firmware with.
