Please iam planning a bicycle tour to Africa ,need to buy 1000 pencils ,give it to kids on the way

Matter of fact, they're all in the same complex; it's the pencil complex on third.
Listen Bobby, I can think of no possible way to Google or call to find out where to source these 'pencils'. I'm afraid that you're just going to have to cancel your trip.
Go to Ikea for the next few weeks and grab the free ones at entry.

CheersMaybe buy them from Ikea then. I'm sure they would have some or maybe Kmart or BW. Opp shop. Or Ebay from China if your not in a hurry. Are you strapping them around yourself, so you have them at all times to give out. How about some small writing pads 30c each from Office works the old stripy school book bones.
He is going to make a vest from all the pencils, this lead vest will also protect him from any stray bullets, Awesome thinking Bobbymg!
@teardrops21: dont worry about that , i worked for 5 years in a war zone and didnt wear a safety vest !!

They need more everything. May as well be pencils.

But no, I just generally object to putting women on a pedestal when it comes to things like mass killings etc which both genders tend to dislike in equal measure.
My Art Teacher wife was having a chat to the school cleaner. Cleaner mentioned that she picked up pencils and pens off floor pretty constantly and kept them in the cleaner's storeroom. Wife said: "I'll have some if you're looking to offload them".
Cleaner delivered six shopping bags full of stuff incl scientific calcs, metal rulers, expensive technical drawing pens, quality erasers, those good metal pencil sharpeners, …
I traveled to Burma a few years back and bought books and pencils for some of the kids also. We bought at the local stores as i figured helping them and the kids, two birds kind of thing.

Make sure you bring some paper too.
Maybe better to bring them pens as pencils need sharpeners or knives when they get blunt.

I understand part of the ethos of ozbargain is to take the mickey out of people. But when someone is actually trying to do a good thing do you think that maybe you could answer in kind? I did find some of the answer to be, well, less than nice and certainly not helpful. Okay, it may be easy to find the cost of 1000 pencils but I felt that this person was really trying to find a good price so he could help out abit on his trip to Africa. I found some of the answers to be, well rude at the best.

Or try IKEA and tell them what you want to do and they will probably give you 1000 pencils.
Yeah if no one has mentioned it already just get it delivered from aliexpress/alibaba/ebay or ask local schools and offices.. There might be an office closing down trying to get rid of stationery honestly anywhere just make a Facebook or gumtree post I am sure you will get something but aliexpress is probably the cheapest considering shipping costs.

You could also ask people to do a drawer cleanout and give you pens. Between my office drawer and the stationary drawer at home I'd have 40 pens from conferences and training courses
