  • Not a bad little AP. Keep in mind it doesn't state whether this box has a POE injector. If it doesn't you will need to get one to make it work unless you have a POE capable switch.

    • "Access Poin POE Injector Includedt"

Part of the description seems to suggest it comes with one. Spelling aside.

P.S: I have 2 of these at home, they are amazing.

      • Datasheet says :UniFi Switch with PoE You can power your UniFi devices with a UniFi PoE Switch (sold separately)

Have been looking at these as I think it would be a great way to extend wifi into my shed and backyard.

Edit: Now looking at the quick start guide it has a POE adapter - LAN into the powered adapter, network cable out to the UniFi

    • I have 3 of these - they came with PoE injectors.

In fact, all my previous unifi purchases that support PoE have come with injectors (cameras and WAPs).

      • +1

From memory there are bulk packs ( 6 or so ) and they don't as you're likely to be running them from a poe switch

    • If the box is sealed by Ubiquiti, these single units have their own POE injector.
The POE injector does not come in when you buy those box with 5 antennas, usually that means that your own switch is going to be POE.

ShopBack no longer applicable if you use a coupon :(

  • The max speeds are less than the better models but you may not even notice on many devices…

    5ghz = 867 Mbps
    2.4ghz = 300Mbps

    • Max speeds on AP packaging.

Marketing BS. You will not see that speed on a device.

I have the AP AC Pro and it's brilliant.

For most cases, I think two Lites would suffice for the average home.

    • Using two Lites for my home. It is excellent.

      • What else are you using?

In my case, I have gigabit internet —> modem —> edgerouter X —> POE injector —> AP AC Pro. Using a rpi4 to run the controller software (in addition to other things like homeassistant)

        • +1

I use 2 switches (One with no PoE and one with PoE) + AP AC Pro + USG. I run the Controller software on my Synology NAS

      • 8 port POE Switch, TP Link Modem. Controller software on my desktop PC. Just setup a NAS with FreeNas. Probably setup the controller software on that at one point.

  • Planning on 2 or 3 nano hd's in our new build, but need the new 24poe switch as well. Might hold out a bit longer.

  • +1

Nothing beats these for coverage. Love all of mine. Slowly converting my friends n family to this gear.
Takes a bit of knowledge to setup mind you

    • Yeah had one myself it just works.

I personally prefer consumer gear rather than this route for simplicity, regardless these are better.

      • +1

I personally never go consumer gear unless budget is an issue.

If the budget allow semi-enterprise gear and I am going to setup it anyways, might as well go with semi-enterprise gear like Ubiquiti and connect to my controller compare to opening ports on their end. If family have issues with their wifi, usually just bring up controller to see if it a gear issues or ISP. In most case it is ISP issues.

  • this only works if you have network cables running to where u want a new wifi extension right?

What happens if I have a house that doesn't have a network cable running to where I want a new AP?

If I use as a repeater it'll halve everything or something right?

    • +1

Correct. Sounds like you'd be better off with a wireless mesh setup. Check out the Tenda Nova MW3 and/or MW6 range often listed here.

    • +1

You can mesh Unifi APs so long as at least one has a wired connection. I do this with an AC Lite to help with a Wifi dead spot at the end of the house.

I wouldn't go Unifi if I wanted to roll out mesh everywhere though.

    • It looks like all APs in the current ten support multi-hop wireless uplink with the latest firmware.

  • Cheers OP, was looking for a deal on this ao bought one. Now seeking a deal on UVC-G3-AF camera….

  • This item is out of stock.

  • yup out of stock gone gone

  • I have the pro version of this and it wont connect to several devices that my old AP did. Eg WEMO's are just about unusable.
