Qantas has a little deal (https://www.qantas.com/au/en/manage-booking/same-day-no-mist…) whereby you can change flight details with no change fees if you ring up before midnight on the day you make a booking. It's intended for situations where you accidentally enter the wrong name or book the wrong day and discover your mistake after booking.
This was recently handy for a friend of mine so I thought I'd share it for those who may not be aware of it. Not sure if Virgin has a similar offering?
No deal, unfortunately, you find these mistakes few weeks later :)
Negative me more, FYI, most non budget airline (Virgin/AirNZ) do this.

I knew I heard about this somewhere but couldn't find the link, and always wanted to make sure I have a reference when I go in for things like this.
I'd be much more impressed if this was available for a slightly longer period … something like 72 hours to 7 days. The reality of it is that many people would book these sorts of things of an evening, perhaps not give it a second thought then and there, only realising their mistake the next day, perhaps after forwarding the details to travelling companions.
As I said, 24hr is poitness. You book it forget about it, then you realised you made a mistake sometimes later.
