What Do I Replace Telstra with?

Hey friends,

I have been on a Telstra Postpaid $49 per month plan for a few months (normally $59 but I got it for $49) , with the following inclusions:

  • 60GB data (no excess usage charges)
  • Unlimited international calls to 15 countries
  • No contract
  • Everything as usual e.g. unlim national calls and text
  • $10 a day roaming

However, recently they have changed my plan with the most drastic changes being:

  • the removal of international calls (they want me to pay an extra $10 to get it)
  • increasing monthly charge to $60 (or $70 including international calls)

So my monthly charge has moved from $50 to $70 for the same options. I need to move to a different provider, but with some many options nowadays I have lost track of what is the best value. From above, the important stuff that I need is:

  • at least 30GB data
  • Unlimited (or min 300 mins) international calls (need to call the subcontinent)
  • No contract
  • Everything as usual e.g. unlim national calls and text
  • roaming should work if i go overseas
  • monthly expense of maximum $50

If anyone can tell me what fits in the above from the multitude of options, that would be very much appreciated. Thank you!

Unless you set up the change or agreed to it, jump on livechat and ask them to move you back to your previous offer!

If they wont ask for a discount to stay. Worth a try right?

    • yeah mate i already tried and they're no good. Its like chatting to a computer

My understanding is that Telstra is streamlining their services by getting rid of a lot of “grandfathered” plans. They, may well, be removing the wiggle room here. Prepaid plans do seem to be the best value, at the moment. Cue the “why do these idiot corporations seem hell bent on alienating their loyal customers chasing flighty new ones” outrage. It must cost them money rolling people from one new plan to another but they still put forward introductory specials to people are likely to skip to the next cheaper deal when the special runs out. We are looking at moving to Boost, from Telstra.

      • Aldi doesnt do referal codes.

  • Do you use roaming? We just bought a SIM last time we went to Europe and it great, and relatively, cheap.

  • WTF.. they shouldn’t have changed your plan. Can you pm me your mobile number so I can have a look? (I work for Telstra)
