    I have an old ( I guess) non 2019 version 'chinese' one. i never tried to update to the english version or anything just wanted it to sit and record.

    It stopped working at some time. not sure when but periodically I tried to wifi connect to it on and off over maybe the last six months, and finally pulled it out of the car to investigate / plug into a PC a few weeks ago.
    Still boots up and makes all the right noises and lights but nothing is on the card (tried 2 diff cards). Wifi for direct connection is available but the app doesn't recognise its joined so never lets me configure it just loops. Factory reset button does nothing to help.. plenty of people with the same issue online with no solution.

    when it did work I found the image quality and usability so-so… would recommend spending more for a better cam.

      Thanks for your insight. I was about to ask how this compares with say a Blackvue because I have a DR-650S dual camera system from my previous car and need to spend about $100 to get a new wiring kit and power magic pro, and realised maybe a newer cheap Xiaomi might be a better option.

    I got the non 2019 from last deal, just wondering how much difference with the upgrade.

    Car plate number will really need to get close before you can actually saw it.

    Is there a way to upgrade the older chinese version to english? i have no idea what she says sometimes in the middle of a drive

      I used this firmware last year to convert audio to english for my 1st Gen 70 Mai and all good!

      Rename the firmware to SD_CarDV.bin and copy to a FAT32 card and inset into the dashcam and power on.

    Great value and looks decent but still uses a battery (lithium) as opposed to a capacitor, so not ideal in summer if your car's going to be sitting in direct sunlight :(.

    Do NOT bother. This has a small lithium battery which when exposed to hot conditions in a car will quickly cause issues (expansion, case cracking, battery failure or lack of charge). Buy one with a capacitor instead.

    FWIW - if you are thinking about getting one of these soon but can wait a few days, the "11:11" sales will start in ten days. Can probably expect to get these for a few dollars cheaper…. the "70mai official" store on Aliexpress are showing this as going to be US$33.99, and a 'special edition' version of the Lite model (no voice control, but 24H parking sensor, screen, and GPS module included) for US$39.99, plus can get coupons to reduce the price a little more….. just saying…..
