How is it compared with Nitecore i4?

  • Got the recharger on the last deal. Fantastic product.

    • Yep good charger use it mostly for the Li-Ion 18650 batteries and does a good job but very versatile charger for many different battery types

      • Given they are also selling eneloops in their listing, I take it the charger is also considered well-matched for those?

Well yeah, these deals are designed to push the eBay Plus scam.

  • Got it from the last deal, tried it on NiMh and worked fine.

Now where do I get some decent Lithium batteries for use in flashlights? I don't even know what size I would need, the flashlights have that little adapter for 3 x AAA, that's how I used them so far, what size Lithium would that be?

    • +1

Impossible to say with such a vague description. 3 x AAA lying flat next to each other, forming a triangle, stacked end to end? Even then, can your torch work with LiIon? What model of torch would be easier to work from.

      • Thanks, I found the model number and that was good enough to find the old email confirmation. That states 18650 :-)

So back to the first part: what brand and where at a good price to buy?

        • +6

Best bet is to find your nearest ALDI that still has some left over 2Ah battery packs and harvest your 18650s, they uses Samsung INR18650-20R cells, you could get 5 from a 2Ah or 10 from the 4Ah one.

          • +2

@ntb: Wow, thanks for that hint.

Glad I never throw possibly useful things away, even if I have no idea what they could be used for… I had a 3Ah Makita battery pack lying around that wasn't charging any more. I just opened it up and found 10 x 18650 inside. The first couple measured at 3.4V, so seem to be still alive.

Worked in the flaslight, now charging to see whether the voltage comes back up to the full level :-)

Update: 8 of the 10 cells seem to be ok still, yay!

I've used https://marsen.com.au/ a few times. More reliable and reputable than buying some generic 'VAPECORE' branded battery from ebay. Just make sure you check whether you need flat or button top, protected or unprotected cell.

          • @techno2000: I can vouch for this ebay seller. I ordered 2 nipple tops (protected) and they are genuine Panasonic. I tested with my Liitokala Lii 500 and both cells exceeded the minimum capacity of 3200mAh.

            • @[Deactivated]: Is the 500 much better than the 402?

              • +2

@kulprit: The Lii-402 is a charger while Lii-500 is an analyer - it can charge, fast test and normal test batteries. It also has an LCD, albeit not a good one. It's now superseded by Lii-500s which has a better LCD

              • +3

                @kulprit:

Is the 500 much better than the 402?

The Lii-402 does not include a mains adaptor (plugpack), you'll need a 5V USB-output battery charger to power the Lii-402.

The Lii-500 usually includes a power supply (plugpack), but some of the cheapest sellers sell the Lii-500 without a plugpack, check before you purchase.

However the manufacturer does not supply plugpacks with an AU plug, so with the Lii-500 you'll need a mains adaptor. I recommend you choose the plugpack with a UK plug, the others are rather wobbly in many mains adaptors.

When charging 4xAA batteries, the Lii-402 can only do 500mA per battery. The Lii-500 can do 1000mA per battery in the same situation.

If you have a battery that you suspect is failing, the Lii-500 can test it for you, and tell you how many mAh the battery actually has. So you can recycle (at Aldi) any batteries that are dying, rather than leaving them in your battery collection to catch you unawares. Whenever you charge the batteries it will also tell you how many mAh were pushed into the battery, if the number is low then you can put that battery aside for testing. The Lii-402 just tells you the battery has reached end-of-charge, no indication of batteries going low capacity.

The Lii-500S has a prettier display than the Lii-500, and touch buttons instead of ordinary (click?) buttons. But the Lii-500S costs roughly twice as much as the Lii-500, so decide if the prettier display and touch buttons are worth the price difference. The display doesn't show any extra info compared to the Lii-500.

@Russ: Banggood have the 500s for $35.80 with free shipping, it's slow shipping. Don't know if it's legit though.

For the extra $8 if you don't have eBay plus it's worth it for the faster charge rate.

                  https://m.banggood.com/LiitoKala-lii-500S-LCD-Screen-Display…

                  • @Hank Scorpion: While that's a good price for the 500S, I got my Lii-500 last year for a little under AU$17:
                    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/354005

However I don't think we'll see prices that good again.

Liitokala still have the Lii-500 on their chargers page. They don't appear to be dropping the product, I think it's more like Apple selling multiple versions of the iphone at the same time.

I'm charging NiMh batteries, no difference between the two chargers for NiMh.

3 x AAA lying flat next to each other, forming a triangle

The triangle shape adapter is actually more like an 18500.
I have a torch that included that AAA adaptor but an 18650 is too long for the torch. Instead put in an 18500 I got from a half-dead Canon DSLR battery.

Just found I an eBay account that hadn't had the free trial and signed up with Paypal, the went to Paypal>Settings>Payments>ManageAutomaticPayments>eBay>Cancel to make sure they can't take the payment in 30 days time if I forgot to cancel. Free shipping obviously makes this a deal, Thanks.

    • +1

Hi Aaliyah. Best to cancel eBay plus within eBay website to be sure.

      • +2

Hi FinalFantasy8. Lets just say it's not my first time doing and so far without issue, from memory you even get a few extra days as they try to take the money out a second time.

  • I'm still rocking an old LaCrosse BC-900 battery charger.
Apart from being able to charge LIon batteries, is this a 'better' charger than that? for AA/AAA NiMH (Eneloops).

  • Has anyone used this FM transmitter?

  • Is this another company of zapals tech?- https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/368351

Please check their reviews before getting one!

    • Ordering from these guys is no different to ordering something from China, except you pay no extra GST. If your expectations are set to this, there aren't any real issues.

  • Can I make two separate orders if I want both at that price?

    • +1

      Yes

      • +1

        Worked well.. thank you!

  • +2

Great deal. Thank you. Now to get some eneloops.

  • -2

It sounds like yo have to click to choose the battery type and charge voltage. ALso the mA.
So that doesn't seem very 'smart'?

Btw what do I want this for? vs any other charger. Seems any ion charger is cheaper
    https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/3-7V-18650-18350-Li-ion-Battery-…

but they're all plug into USB instead of having mains power which would make it charge faster?

Do these work with 1.5v lipo batteries?
    https://www.aliexpress.com/item/33063462017.html

I saw these as nimh alernatives where you need 1.5v not 1.2.

    • I don't think they support as long as they don't claim it.

    • +1

Do these work with 1.5v lipo batteries?

No. Those batteries have two contacts at the positive end, the charging contact is the recessed one. The charger needs a specially-shaped positive contact to reach the battery's recessed contact.

PS I don't have any, your comment caught my attention and I did a bit of research to find out how the batteries work.

  • have this.

for the price it's awesome. have used it with different batteries with 0 issues

  • +1

I bought AAA rechargeable batteries from them and 3 weeks later the tracking number still says it hasn't been sent.

Not sure about this seller anymore.

    • Hi
If you can PM me with the order details, I might be able to help.
      cheers

      • +1

        I PM'ed you.

I raised a case with Ebay asking for the missing item and your rep consistently said that the item had been dispatched based on your system.

However, the tracking number you provided shows that the item hasn't even been scanned.

I don't understand why your rep tried to convince me without even checking the tracking of the item.
