  • Would this work better then the 18w QC 4.0 charger that comes with mi 9t pro , phone supports up to 27w charging

    • +2

AFAIK If you want more than 18w you need USB-C PD. This won't be significantly different to the one you already have.

    • -4

      *"than the…"

    • +3

QC 4.0 should be 'better' (charge quicker) than 3.0 depending on what the phone supports. However, fast charging all the time is probably not good for the battery life over time. You should really only use it when you need to charge up fast because you're in a rush. That's why these chargers are great because they have 2 USB ports, one with quick charge, and one normal USB port. It's best to use normal (slower) charging as often as possible. It's also not good to charge overnight. Avoiding charging up to 100% is also good for the battery life. I try to take my charger off around 90% if I can. Since I have started using these methods I have noticed the difference in how long my battery lasts for it's age compared to previous mobile phones I had.

      • Thanks for that info. So when is a good time to put the phone on charge? Do you run it down to 0% before you start charging?

        • +3

Short, regular charges are best for battery life, and definitely do not discharge to 0%. This used to be common practice for older battery technologies that had a 'memory' effect. Lithium ion does not, and it is actually bad to fully discharge the battery. I'm sure there is a sweet spot for the best depth of discharge, but personally I rarely let my battery go below 40%. Here is a Web page with a lot of good information on this:

          https://batteryuniversity.com/learn/article/how_to_prolong_l…

      • +1

Well, the jury is still out there on whether it is to be charged to 100% or less. Mine is always charged to 100% and it's been like that for the last 4 years. The battery doesn't last as long as when it was new, but I would say it is due to age and not how much it was charged.

        • +1

According to data on that page I listed, the jury is definitely not still out on that. And to me, this makes perfect sense from a scientific perspective. In short, less heat is always better. This applies to just about everything in electronics.

"Most Li-ions charge to 4.20V/cell, and every reduction in peak charge voltage of 0.10V/cell is said to double the cycle life. For example, a lithium-ion cell charged to 4.20V/cell typically delivers 300–500 cycles. If charged to only 4.10V/cell, the life can be prolonged to 600–1,000 cycles; 4.0V/cell should deliver 1,200–2,000 and 3.90V/cell should provide 2,400–4,000 cycles."

          Also:

"Lithium-ion suffers from stress when exposed to heat, so does keeping a cell at a high charge voltage. A battery dwelling above 30°C (86°F) is considered elevated temperature and for most Li-ion a voltage above 4.10V/cell is deemed as high voltage. Exposing the battery to high temperature and dwelling in a full state-of-charge for an extended time can be more stressful than cycling. Table 3 demonstrates capacity loss as a function of temperature and SoC"

          • @Shaun Prawn: That's one jury. Need more sources before you can make an informed decision. If what you say is true, my battery should've been dead a long time ago. My battery is older than 4 years, but we will take it as being 4, which is 1460 days and let's say I only charged it every second day and assuming the best case scenario of 500 cycles, it is 1000 days. Still 460 days left or 230 charges. And if I take into account it is older than 4 years, then the battery should truly be dead.

Most of the time the battery is discharged to about 20% and charged to 100%.

            • @bargainparker: 1 cycle is the equivalent energy of a complete discharge from maximum capacity ~4.2v to near ~3.0V (probably less than when your phone says 0%). So the calculation you gave is not correct.

You're missing my point entirely. All I'm trying to say is the science proves that heat is bad for lithium batteries. The closer you charge a battery to its limit the more heat is generated and the more 'stressed' the battery is. So by not charging to 100% is only going to be good for the life of your battery. The tests and results clearly show this. If you had not always charged to 100% for the last 4 years I would put money on the fact that your battery life today would be better than what it is now.

              • @Shaun Prawn: Sorry, forgot about full discharge cycle, but still in my opinion, the battery should be dead or at least having very low capacity, yet I still get a good day usage.

Didn't say heat wasn't bad, agree on that point.

Most of my batteries are lithium. One in my flashlight is about 6, 7 years old being charged 100%. It still charges close to 100%.

From my personal experience, I am happy with the amount of charges I got and how much use it got. A few keep their phones for many years, so they wouldn't be really affected and the truth is, unless I was using batteries in a custom setting where they are discharged several times a day, then most of the time it really is not that significant as people don't keep their mobiles for years like with old technology where it lasted for 20 years, for it to matter much.

    It's banggood

Not touching that scan of a company again after they ripped me of with DOA arrival products, said to PayPal they would allow me to refund the product if I return it, with full knowledge that a 15kg product is prohibitively expensive to return. This is despite paying for shipping insurance and despite sending banggood a video.

They are a scam, lie cheat of a company that should be banned from this forum.

    • +4

Ordered many things without issue, shouldn’t you be entitled to free return postage with PayPal?

    • +1

      What was the product??

      • Mijia wifi microwave

        • how does a wifi microwave work? You can turn it on from a distance?

Isn't that like the eject button on your remote though? You still have to go and put it in.

          • +2

            @lostn: Back in my day…
            microwaves killed your wifi.

            • @Ulysses31: Mine still does, but only if I put my Amazon echo on top.

    • +1

I've had good experience personally with banggood for a DOA arrival. Sent another without fuss.

    • +1

Only buy from Australian based companies.

      • Because Australia is the only country in the world that can handle ecommerce.
No orders from overseas have ever really succeeded.

        • No dummy because ACL can only be enforced on Australian based companies. Trying threatening ACL to banggood, they will laugh at you.

    • +11

return a 15kg product …. prohibitively expensive to return even in australia ….buying 15kg product from overseas and expecting to return is crazy, unless from amazon, who pay return postage.

      • Very true

      • Scratching my head how a microwave oven can weigh 15kg… thats one mutha of a heavy microwave..

    • +1

I bought one of these a while back. It did not arrive. They sent another. It did arrive.

I can understand that you do not want to deal with them again. I would feel the same if I'd had your experience. However, you'd be hard pressed to find a business with which nobody had ever had a bad experience. If they were all banned there would be no OzBargain.

    • That sounds annoying. Probably not worth the risk ordering bulky items from chinese vendors…

  • +1

Thanks OP, was looking to pick up one of these on the next sale, though still a little dark they don't make the one with usb-pd anymore with AU plug..

    • Yeah but what are? Xiaomi? Baseus?

      • -1

A few of the Chinese brands have bothered, meanwhile consumers take chances and the odd person dies thanks to some of the rubbish being sold. Unless they have approval, I consider it rubbish regardless of brand.

        • +2

Blitzwolf products are definitely not rubbish. Their build quality is as good and even better than leading brands with said safety certification, which is essentially just an expensive piece of paper.

        • +1

Would I be electrocuted to death on my Xiaomi bidet? That would be undignified death.

          • @cheapo999: But you might make the news, so that would be good, eh?

    • +4

Wrong. It's not illegal for us to import 'uncertified' electrical goods for personal use. If we imported them with the intention of selling within Australia then it would be illegal.

      • So you must pay us GST. But electrical certification, just do whatever.

        • With GST they made it law that overseas companies must collect GST on behalf of the ATO. For electrical goods it's law that they must be certified when sold within Australia so there's a difference.

Then again most overseas companies probably aren't even passing the GST on. Much like how they deceive you with shipping insurance.

        • +7

Anyone who imports electrical goods for sale in Australia must ensure they meet Australian standards and are tested to be electrically safe,” Ms Thomson said

Yes that's what I said… for sale in Australia. For personal use however it's legal.

Banggood are an overseas store so they're not importing within Australia for sale.

          • @Clear: The "for sale in Australia" is a very unfortunate caveat within the law if the interpretation of this law by Ms Thomson is correct.
I understand the sentiment to markis10 comment. You only need to travel to some countries in Asia, such as India Thailand or Indonesia and see the dodgey powerboards, chargers and other electrical accessories setup in peoples homes shops or cafes to know that you don't want this to become the norm in Australia, which could easily be done by buying stuff from Banggood AliExpress etc. But in saying that I've bought a few items from Blitzwolf and been happy with them, including the USB-C + USB-A version of this charger which works really well.

    • +2

No blitzwolf products are electrically safe certified in Australia and are thus illegal to import or sell.

      Quick. Somebody call the cops.

  • Anybody able to apply the coupon? It did not work fo me.

    • Only works when shipping it from China.

  • bought a few item from this seller, pretty good so far.

    • same think its been about six months all good

  • have thi charger. works well. great to have 2 ports.

  • Got this charger on an earlier deal from Banggood. Arrived in 3 days excellent product

  • Good seller haven’t had any issues with them.

  • My blitzwolf chargers are lasting about 2 years before they lose their fast charge abilities and reverting to standard-ish charge (slower).

    • +2

oh really that does not sound great , the fast charger i got with my galaxy S7 duos that still did fast charging only issue is the micro usb cable was frayed near where you plug into phone, but i sold it with gear VR headset for $300 last weekend and upgraded to mi 9t pro

i thought about upgrading from 18w to 27w charger but does not seem to be a big difference in charging time, prob better off investing in a USB-PD brick that i can whack in a bag to charge all my devices then buying another wall charger.

      • +1

The genuine chargers are generally always higher quality than aftermarket, even though Blitzwolf is marketed and appears to be a premium product. Unfortunately something in it is degrading and not lasting, probably capacitors.

  • One weird issue I had with mine is that the 2.4A port wouldn't charge my Vita, while the QC port would, which leads me to believe that the Vita is picky, and the 2.4A port may be somewhat lower quality.

    • What is a "Vita"?

      • +1

        PS Vita

  • Anyone has experience with this to charge 2017 iPad Pro 12.9? Can it fast charge to USB A ports?

    • +3

It uses the QC standard which the iPad Pro does not use. It will charge at normal speeds.

      • +1

Thanks. After some research I was aware Apple uses PD for fast charge only, hence I got the same conclusion as yours, and gave up on this.

  • I bought one of these once, and the one of the USB ports was crooked. The orange part. The workmanship and QC was disappointing.

    • +2

Everything I own with the blitzwolf label had been amazing, including this. You must have been unlucky.

      • That's more than just unlucky, that's qc fail.
