I have one and it is not accurate. Dont buy it.

    • I tend to agree. It's okay for a rough indication, but the accuracy is limited. Precise, but not accurate.

    • What are you comparing to?

      Any recommended one?

      • Get the Braun ear one, they are about $50 on eBay. The only issue is you have to get the replacement cap but they are not expensive.

        • Can we just wash or sterilise the cap?

    • Wow I almost bought this. Seriously not good?

      • Seriously no good. I have the Braun and this.

        • Ok thanks. I was watching this for a year, waiting to go under $25! Forget about it then

      • They’re fine.

I have 2 Omron digital normal thermometers which I got from clinical trials and the Xiaomi is +0-0.3 degrees of them (usually 0.1-0.2)

        The things to remember
        1) you measured body temp is different depending on where you measure. E.g. forehead, vs armpit is 1-1.5degrees in my kids.
        2) it’s not that actual temperature that matters, it’s the changes. That piece of advice has come from ambos, nurses in A&E and medical research doctors (all whom we’ve had to chat with many time over the past 10+yrs).

These are great with sick young kids ask you don’t have to disturb them when taking their temp (great when they’re asleep or just blah, whinging & shivering on the couch. Worth the $30 I paid 2 or 3yrs ago.

The few times we’ve had ambos & after hours docs visit, it’s been within 0.2 of their ones. I asked the ambos the first time they came whether I should invest in a much better one. Nah they said, and demonstrated the different temps on forehead, ear, armpit, mouth, groin. They said see the difference between those regions are much greater then the differences between your & our thermometer. Just make sure you measure in the same spot and the important thing is that it goes down, not up.

        .

        • It's true that it is convenient if you just need a rough idea of temperature without waking your child. And I agree that although it is not very accurate (compared to ear measurements), it is quite consistent such that fluctuations in temperature are able to be picked up. But we have had some unusual readouts from time to time, so use with caution.

    • I agree. I have one too and the temperature readings are wildly variable and usually measures lower than my Braun Thermoscan (ear probe)

  • What is 3000 times mean? Only can be pressed for 3000 times?

    • What is 3000 times mean? Only can be pressed for 3000 times

2 x AAA included batteries will allow 3000 x measurements before having to get new batteries.

  • The Omron brand that one can get here at pharmacies also can be used also on surfaces. I’m guessing frying pans.

Personally I think ear thermometers (like at the doctors) are more accurate compared to these type
