Make sure you're using a recommended pressure washer when buying this or it won't foam up as well - https://www.bowdensown.com.au/guides/how-to-use/exterior-car…

Er, no you don't. Any pressure washer will fine. All you need is a snow foam cannon and the right attachment. I'm using a cheap pressure washer I got at Masters, an eBay foam cannon for $32, and Bowden's Snow Job I got on sale for $33 and it foams up very well.

I got everything setup to foam for $65. Is it worth spending an extra $34 for a, potentially, better foam cannon?

      • I'm using an old Karcher K2.080 with a cheap ebay snow foamer too and I can't get nice thick foam out of mine. Maybe I need more than the 100ml suggested?

        • Either you not using a car wash that foams up that much or the nozzle in the foam cannon is too big. If you get an mjjc snow foam cannon you get two nozzles. Swap for the smaller nozzle and you will get an intense foam. Also i would say go for the mjjc over this as its cheaper. Also I use chemguys honey dew snow foam with mjjc and it's. Intense foam that sticks really well.

          • @RandomBob84: I've tried Meguairs Gold Class and now Bowdens Snow Job. Don't get me wrong, it foams but not the nice thick stuff Dan Bowden gets in his Instagram vids :(

@iShibby: You just cant expect a lower PSI to get the thick foam that the higher PSI units do, so what you claim is my experience too. I just set the foaming to max and go slower to lather more foam on. Also, its thicker if you dont pre-rinse the car. I tend to increase the ratio of snow foam mix too to soemthing like 1:8.

              • @ATangk: correct as per my initial post at the top :)

I find that with the eBay snow cannons you need turn the knob to almost off to get thick foam. Also using the 1:10 ratio Bowden's recommend and it's fine.

Alternatively, you can change the nozzle tip to 1.1mm to get thicker foam (buy from eBay):

      • I bought this before and return it as it make virtually no difference whatsoever compare to my $30 cannon from ebay. I use Meguiar's Gold Class with Karcher K3 pressure washer.

I find the Autoglym Polar Blast gives thicker foam than Snow Job, but not a great deal in it.

    • Bought this gear on eBay a couple of weeks back. 2.5L for about $35.

Foam that dripped onto the ground was there for about 3hrs after.

    • Agreed, though I do find myself using more of the Polar Blast than I did Snow Job, so that may skew my results a bit… That said, I get 2-3 washes out of a single fill of the snow cannon.

      Definitely worth getting either.

  • With https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/491041 and https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/491332, I just spent $120 on cleaning products for a car.

Just need a pressure washer and I'm all set.

    • I know that feel! I'm up to $500 in cleaning products, with wax that I've only used once that I probably shouldn't have got with the rise of ceramic SiO2 wax that much easier to apply and last much longer. I've got a DA polisher that I've used twice thinking that I'd had time to clay and paint correct, but with kids, even a 2 hour wash is a luxury for me.

That tyre shine is brilliant! I got some expensive Bowden Tyre Shine and although it last a tad longer, it was messy to apply and leaves the rims greasy. This SCA stuff is easy to spray on and leave no mess! You'll also need an extra bucket with that other deal if you want to wash properly, lol!

      • Haha, try near on 2k possibly more in car detailing products. Got a flex random orbital polisher back when you basically couldn't get them in aus. Had a black BMW 7 series that used to get the full treatment once or twice a year. The black came up like a mirror in the right angles. Miss that car. Now I have an old kia and kids and hardly wash the cars twice a year. Haha
