    Protects your privacy

    Doubtful

fixes frustrating errors, crashes and freezes

    How would it do that?

    • Cleaning your registry can do the latter.

Problem is, if it does the wrong thing, things can break.

Registry cleaners can go die. They're so unreliable and pointless. Also, like you stated, they can break the entire OS pretty damn easily.

        • Has one broke on you yet…?

@Zachary: Yes. Corrupted the registry so badly I couldn't pull any sort of restore job and had to reinstall the entire OS from scratch.

            • @Tacooo: Which program?

              • +1

@Zachary: Crap Cleaner (before it was CCleaner).

                • @Tacooo: Oh, I guess you must have got unlucky….of the times I've used Ccleaner's registry cleaner, nothing bad happened….. I've even used a registry defragger too also to no ill will, that many people seem to be against…..I must be luckiest guy in the world then, to have no problems caused yet by having a program clean and optimise the registry for performance and declutter reasons….

Wish I had that kind of luck for other things I want working on, though… :/

allowing peeps to install things on work computers increases the risk of unwanted intrusion or ransomware IMHO

Supply chain malware infection through automatic updates is potentially and will increasingly become a big problem especially for Businesses.
CCleaner is the probably the best example of this.

Personally I use CCleaner, but turn off automatic updates and patch manually.

It just dropped the boot time of this pc from 1 min 1 sec to 28 seconds. Thanks. Updated a heap of other stuff too.

  • Wow Glary is retro. Does anyone seriously use this?

The amount of similar stuff (useless and not free) on android is mind boggling.

    • Wow Glary is retro. Does anyone seriously use this?

Better than Auslogics who have adware (and spyware?) integrated into their suite now or IOBIT whose gone down the drain after stealing something from malwarebytes…..

  • Oh….there's an expiry date, which I presume is due to the key being pre-activated….so you can't just stock up and save some for the future and then activate them as you use them….well that's lame….

    • The activation process does not require internet (just tested this inside VM with no internet access); although not sure whether it's locked time bound or not (valid for 1 year since activation OR it has encrypted activation date within the key itself)…

      • Oh….they seemed to have deleted the submit button…so I can't stock up to find out……lol rip gg…
