If I choose 2 adults, the checkout process shows price ×2. So what's the point of companion sale? Can someone show a screenshot where the 2nd passenger's price is reduced?

I don't get this. When I tried a Premium Economy booking to London return for two for September 2020, it came back at $12500. I can go Singapore Airlines on the same dates for under $7000 for two ???
Is there a trick to booking these online?? I've tried a bunch of different dates and never get as low as the fare quoted. And it's the same price regardless of booking 1 or 2 adults
