Oilskin Coats (With Minor Fault) From $29 (Was $100+, Sizes 10, 12 & 14) + Delivery @ Goodwood Saddlery

280

Goodwood Saddlery received a dodgy batch of oilskin coats, so they are offering them for ridiculously cheap prices. Starting at $29. These coats usually sell for well over $100. Plus delivery costs.

From the website: "A large portion of our shipment have been found to have discolouring on the brass domes. We can't sell these as firsts, so jump online and get an amazing deal. Mainly only the larger sizes have been affected, all coats are still perfectly waterproof and have all the features you would expect from an oilskin coat."

Update: Smaller sizes left: 10, 12 & 14

  • Seconds due to discolouring on dome fasteners

    Looks like rust.

  • I assume these aren't leather?

    • +1

No, not leather. These days oilskin garments are typically made from heavy cotton material waterproofed with linseed oil.

      • So basically canvas?

        • I would say not quite as heavy as canvas and also impregnated with linseed oil and a bit of wax.

      • Was oilskin ever leather?

I've always been under the impression that oilskin is cotton soaked with linseed oil and paraffin.

        • No, never leather. Yes, traditionally cotton soaked with linseed oil and paraffin wax. These days other synthetic materials masquerade as oilskins, but these horse type people stick with tradition, as typified by your Driza-Bone stuff.

Would be good to see these on a person to see what they actually look like!

  • Nice of them for selling the defective coats at only 50% markup instated of the usual 500%.
