Hi all,

I feel like this is quite big. We've secured the Ryzen 5 3500X and they will be arriving in November. The major difference between the 3500X and 3600 is the 3500X has 6 threads while the 3600 has 12, however both have 6 cores, the same clock speeds and the 3500X just happens to come in quite a nice way under the 3600 in price. Here is a performance comparison which shows gaming is equal whereas the workstation is understandably lower due to the fewer threads. But for gaming, we're sweet.

So, the first two systems we're offering are base spec options featuring 5700 XT and RTX 2080 Super GPUs.

You will also notice that we have added an M-ATX case upgrade option from the Leaper Pro: the Cooler Master MasterBox NR400 for $79. This is directly due to OzB community feedback with particular thanks to a few folks who assisted in the process. Obviously there were almost endless options but we felt this ticked the boxes for looks and functionality - having a mesh front panel for optimised airflow, tempered glass side panel and improved quality and features - and cost (longer assembly is required on our end). Keen to hear your feedback. This is now available on all systems so if you were holding off, now might be the time!

Spec: Ryzen 5 3500X | RX 5700 XT 8GB | 8GB 2400Mhz | 240GB 2.5" SSD | 550W PSU | A320 MB | White Leaper Pro Case
Price: $1049 with 3500X-5700XT-240

and

Spec: Ryzen 5 3500X | RTX 2080 SUPER 8GB | 8GB 2400Mhz | 240GB 2.5" SSD | 750W PSU | A320 MB | White Leaper Pro Case
Price: $1399 with 3500X-2080S-240

Popular upgrades are 16GB 2400MHz RAM: $79, B350 MB: $39 and larger SSDs (480GB, 240GB NVME, and 1TB): $46-$109.

Both systems come with respective AMD/NVIDIA code for the GPU (Ghost Recon or borderlands 3 for 5700 XT and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare for RTX 2080).

Please allow longer for delivery for these systems - as said we are expecting the CPUs to land in the first week of November but we will update customers who purchase.

Let me know what other GPUs you'd like to see paired with the 3500X too and I'll whip em up.

Cheers

Luke

    • You're welcome. Thank you!

  • Is there a choice to upgrade the case? These days I don't think I can handle not having USB 3.1/USB C or USB 3.0 ports available at the front. Also, is there a headphone and mike port at the front (I couldn't zoom in very far)? Can a DVD drive be installed in this case (does the front flip open) as I love my blu-ray movies and play them on my PC regularly (not a fan of external drives taking up room on my desk).

    • Yep we added the Cooler Master NR400. Nice balanced upgrade.

  • Awesome deal, would definately jump on it if I wasn't doing an upgrade instead.

  • Hey Luke,

    I literally just sold my Vega 64 PC for ~$1000 so I could by the 2080 Super system. I'm interested in getting 16GB ram that's faster too.. but don't plan to buy the upgrade from you as I can get it cheaper thought another ozbargain deal. I'm also thinking of getting a NvMe SSD

    Since these systems won't ship till November, I was wondering what the benefit would be in buying now vs waiting to see if there is another/better deal in the future?

    • +2

      Being at the front of queue primarily. We're heading into peak season. Business quadrupled in November last year.

  • Hi Luke,

    This looks like an excellent deal. Has it now expired?

    I hopped online to make this purchase, but I can see that the prices in the TechFast store don't match this offer. I suspect this was a sale price and I've missed the boat?

    • Both still running. Have you applied the respective discount code?

      • Ah, perfect. All good now thanks Luke!

    Hey Luke,
    Really like what you've done getting such competitive pricing for the builds, but I was wondering if the upgrade pricing was going to change in the near future. I'm looking at buying a rig within the next month or so and was keen on a motherboard, ram, case and ssd upgrade, but I feel like the prices are for the whole component new rather than an upgrade from the base component i.e. $120 for 3000mhz 16gb when you can buy this for the same price separately. I know this is pretty picky but was wondering if there was a chance of this changing in the future as it would be a deal sealer for me. Cheers

      i have to agree with you, upgrade is not ideal since it's charged as new price instead of price difference, the more you upgrade, the less the bargain becomes.

    • Hi, we're constantly looking at upgrade pricing but we don't buy anywhere near as much of the upgrade lines, therefore are less able to push suppliers on pricing.

  • Hi. Will this pc run ok with two or maybe three monitors and a wacom cintique16 tablet? Won't be for gaming just photoshop and graphics on cintique tablet. my current setup crawls at high resolution drawing. hope this makes sense. Thanks ozbargain friends.

    edit i am interested in the Ryzen 5 3500X | RX 5700 XT 8GB

    • nevermind. I couldn't wait and ordered one lol :)

      • Can you PM? You might be better off with the 3600 which has double the threads for productivity. It would be +$100. All good if not interested!

        • PM sent.

  • Hey Luke,

    How long will this offer be available for?

    Also is it worth spending the little bit extra and upgrading to the B350MB?

    Cheers!

    • 3500X should be a mainstay. Main benefit of jumping on now is the get to the front of the queue as peak season is approaching and business quadrupled last year around this time.

      And yep B350 allows for faster RAM in future plus an m.2 slot.

      • Perfect, I'd love to get on it now but have some other commitments to cover first, will get onto it late next week.

        Thanks very much!

  • Hi Luke, just had a couple of questions.
    If upgrading to the 80+ gold PSU, what model would it likely be?
    Also is there any upgrade option for a Ryzen 5 3600 instead of the 3500X?

    • PSU would likely be Gigabyte G750H. R5 3600 would be approx $150 more. I won't list it on these products as we want to keep them separate, but you could purchase the 3500X and I could issue an invoice for you separately for the upgrade?

  • Hey Luke, nice deal!
    Quick question: What brand is the 5700XT and is it a single blower or dual fan?

    • We've used Gigabyte, Sapphire and MSI so far. All dual fans. No blowers. I believe MSI Mech will be the prominent mainstay from here on.

      • Thanks for the reply. Is there a way you can request one of those specific brands for a build e.g. Sapphire?

        • You can request it and we'll do our best to allocate it if we have it on hand, but it will ultimately depend what is in stock when the system is built i.e. we wouldn't buy in a specific one on request.

  • Was interested in this now expired deal https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/487393 for $1149 but seems like to upgrade from this deal to the same specs as the previous one ends up being a price hike of $50. Still considering it but a bit cooler on it now than before. I prefer the 3600 because of the non-gaming advantages. Hope something nice with the 3600 comes back.

    • Our core market is gaming which will be better served by the 3500X, so as we're buying less of the 3600 our pricing has to change. It'll still be in the mix but more as an upgrade most likely.

    • Interesting unwanted prize given they bought it.

  • I've been waiting for the right moment to pull the trigger on one of these TechFast deals but I'm just unsure about future-proofing myself and becauseit's my first time.

    I'm looking at the 5700XT system and planning the following upgrades:
    * Ryzen 5 3600
    * B350M motherboard
    * 16GB DDR4 3200MHz
    * 480GB SSD
    * Some other 2TB HDD which I will source myself

    In terms of what I do - I'll mainly be looking at playing AAA title games.
    Would it be reasonable to expect this machine to last me easily through the next 3-5 years (assuming nothing breaks).

    • This deal isn't all that active for comments so you might be better off on another deal. In my view, 5 years is a long way away but it is brand new Gen stuff now so it will run most things for 3 comfortably. But this will apply no matter when you pull the trigger. It's the right time at the start of this gen.

  • I'm thinking of getting this and upgrading the Ram to 32gb. What model/brand of Ram is currently being fitted. I can get a G-Skill kit on ebay for about the same price as the upgrade cost here so just wondering which way I should go. Also wondering what the SSD's are.'

    Also are there any more builds coming soon that use the AMD RX 5700 XT 8GB that would be a better deal than me just upgrading this one?

    • The deals will work out almost exactly the same whether they start low or high spec.

      32gb RAM is currently Team NightHawk RGB.

  • When I click on the link, I don't see the Coolermaster case upgrade. It's only the Thermaltake Versa H18 with the J24 upgrade.

    Is this offer still available?

    • Still active yes but being replaced with a high spec one tomorrow most likely. The H18 is the replacement Leaped Pro until supply comes back in roughly end of this month.

      • Same price or dearer? Was looking at the $1049 one.

        • Higher spec so higher price but equivalent value.
