    • I'm in the same situation wonder why I'm still waiting 🤔

  • Sorry ABB from $79 for 50/20 i'm now at $69 for 100/40 (and getting 100 down) for 6 months, then only a $10 bump after 6 months. Basically the same speed over 12 months, but I get 100/40 instead of 50/20. Switch was done in under 17 minutes (on HFC), that was smooth.

    • err same price I mean

  • OP going to be rich!

  • Hi
Anyone got this modem worked with superloop or ABB ? https://www.telstra.com.au/internet/extras/modem

    Telstra Smart Modem™ Gen 2

    via HFC connection?

    Thanks

    • +1

Yes, it works fine. You should not need to change a thing as you're on a HFC connection; the connection is managed by the Arris NTD

      • Ok thanks so you got the same modem work with superloop nbn with HFC?
I went to a telstra shop they told me it might be locked to telstra because it design for telstra or work with other provider .

        thanks for let me konw

        • Have had it working with Kogan and ABB. No problem.

          • @Cousin IT: Ok because as @ fozzie on 21/10/2019 - 17:38 said he got The other two modems from telstra used to work with Kogan but not with superloop. netgear c6300d and technicolour Tg800v.

And someone mentioned they got telstra modem work with kogan or ABB just not with "superloop"~!

Have you try use the modem with superloop?

            • @Apollo-Fc: Not with Superloop, but as I mentioned earlier, the connection is maintained by the NTD, not the router. With Superloop the WAN port needs to be set to IPOE just like ABB or Kogan.

The info that you posted from fozzie is for 2 different devices.

              • @Cousin IT: Ok I am not too sure how to setup as I am with telstra cable and have not swith to NBN during the speed downgrade but this is much better deal than my current one

and I have NBN box setup ready just not transfer from cable to NBN yet

I have the Tg800v and smart gen 2 both

just want make sure these will work with superloop (without get disconnection because the modem or router?)

I will try once I switch to superloop

                Kind regards

            • @Apollo-Fc: Hi, sorry for giving wrong info but I retried the technicolor and it now works! I unplugged the ntd for 1 minute and reconnected and it now works!
The archer wasn’t very good so I am going to keep this one as a very good router

  • Is the connection port inside the house normally close to where the external port is outside the house? If so, the port will be far away from the TV area where my current mobile broadband setup sits…

What are people's recommendations for modem routers? I've signed up for a 50/20 plan…
    Current household setup -
TV (netflix etc), xbox, ps4, apple tv wired to a modem router downstairs…
7-10 devices (phones, tablets, computer, sonos speakers) strewn around the house connecting via wireless…

    • I'm still using an Apple router, which is exceptionally good quality. Since they don't exist any more, Apple recommends looking for these features:
      https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT208753

    • What connection type?
I'm on HFC and they could run it to where ever I wanted it, no differnt to a Foxtel connection really.

  • Will have FTTC soon. I usually just buy the modem the internet provider has for easy step by step (click here, click there) support if anything happens. Does anyone know what modem they sell? or can recommend one for good wifi internet coverage?

  • Anyone else torn because they paid the 12 month up front offer with ABB?

Also, curious to know how much referral $$ OP got!

    • I assume many would use the random referral link , but yeah, op unlikely to be paying for internet for a while.

      • +1

Also depends if you get referral when combined with a promo code.

Does anyone know? I've referred a few people for this deal and not sure if I will get the referral credit.

        • Good point - would like to know as well.

          • @FarKen: same question, a referral+promo combo possible?

            • @spoddar01: Tried whimming both Michael Superloop reps on Whirlpool and emailing billing/sales about this question - haven't heard anything back from any source yet.

              • @rysith: Call?

              • +2

@rysith: Just a followup, heard back and they advised that Promotions and Referrals do not stack, so the current promo would have overridden any referral code they used.

Oh well, better deal for them using the current promo.

        • According to the, "Superloop Home Broadband Member-Get-Member Promotion 2019 - Terms and Conditions"PDF;

"8. The Referral program is not available in conjunction with any other promotion or offer."

We'll soon see, one way or the other!

          • +1

@Global Nomad: If you clicked a referal link, all it did was auto fill in the promo field. And you then had to delete the referal promo code to enter the ones from this deal (which is a bigger saving and actually for the person signing up). So i couldn't see how to stack them.

            • @kulprit: Thanks. I was just about to send my referral link today to a family member so they can sign up in the next couple of days but it seems it won't stack then, unlike ABB. I'll just tell them to go ahead without my referral then and save them any confusion. Cheers.

  • Switched ABB 50/20 to Superloop 100/40 about half an hour ago. Only took 9 mins from order SMS to confirm SMS.
IP address is now with Superloop so it has taken place, but google ping test still indicates 44.2 down / 18.7 up.
Did anyone else have to reboot the FFTC NBN connection box or modem to achieve new speeds?

    • +1

For what it's worth, speed test rig was connected via a NetComm wireline connector, which seems to max out at 44.2 Mbps though rated at 100 Mbps.
Direct LAN connected laptop returned 88.1 Mbps down and about 20 Mbps up. Tested after I rebooted NBN box.

    • +1

From past experience it's NBN Co's side, you should get the new speed within 24h.

  • Just switched from ABB, also took literally 9 minutes. 93 down, 39 up. No complaints, will see how it goes tonight at peak time but from everyone else's reports it should be fine.

Given how quick and easy it is to chop and change providers, why would anyone stick with one provider after the promo period runs out? Both ABB and SL seem to offer the same $20 over 6 month promo, so hopefully we can just leap frog between the two?

    • Won't be classed as a new customer when trying to switch back

      • Surely they will class you as a new customer after some period of time? Like porting in and out of Telcos.

        • not from previous threads ive seen.
classed as 'returning' for same NBN connection

          • @SBOB: What if somebody different signs up? My dog has a few rewards cards and could do with an ABB account in 5 months…

            • +1

@muncan: Same address/nbn connection. Good luck trying though

              • @SBOB: Oh so same as my old number getting blocked by Dominos for missing a pizza collection when my car broke down. Sorry to whoever got my old number.

              • @SBOB: Wouldn’t make sense for rentals? I’ve had no issues

  • I select the contract length and there are "no plans available"

  • +1

I have singed up online and waited 10 min. Reboot modem and confirm new connection is ok. Then, call Aussie BB to close account. Done in 15 min. Very fast and easy.

  • +2

Thanks op. Same as most, switched from ABB as they wouldn't take care of current customers. Couldn't have been easier

  • Phoned again today and the woman said she would send a message to nbn co but still waiting.

  • Completed my order in 11mins.
    Thanks OP!

  • Anyone knows how they bill us? I mean, if we connect today, will they charge pro rata up to 31/10 or they charges full amount, and their next billing will be 23/11 ?

    • bill starts on connection date

      • So the next month bill will be 30 days from connection date?

        • It should be the same day each month. If connection activated on 10th then 10th of every month. For special cases like 31st best to call and check

  • My mates going to sign up to SL

He’s on Optus HFC. He has the 2 modem setup and no VoIP plan that he’s aware of. Can he just churn to this no issues modem wise ?

  • Just churned from ABB to Superloop in 8 minutes on FTTN. Speed seems good so far… I’m 4 minutes in lol

  • 473 upvotes! Am I missing something here? Why is this deal so popular?

    • Because Superloop are right up there with ABB and it's a great promo saving $20/mth.

      • and for a vast majority of folks out here the churn is quick and painless :)

        • This!
I was staying with ABB because previously HCF churn took weeks. Now it takes 5 minutes.

  • Still not connected after 5 days may as well stick with Aussie BB👎

  • +1

A massive thumbs up for Superloop. Got us connected in about 15 minutes after the ultimate disaster that I had with Belong.

  • +1

    My experience so far:
Took half hour to get connected!
I was having drop outs (like I was with Kogan), so I called the call centre last night. Waiting time was 45 minutes (yuck), the lady asked me to turn off the main nbn box off for 1 minute. That seems to have done the trick.
I am using the kogan tpg modem, which works fine (wifi is poopy so a created a wifi extension with my old Telstra modem)
Happy so far, especially at $55. I just wish price wasn’t going up in 6 months

  • +1

i am current customer. they didn't let me get this rate. so annoying.

  • +1

Moved across - could not resist a $120 saving across 6 months - life is too expensive.
Signed up around 0:15am, and ABB internet cut out within minutes of submitting my order. Connection with superloop went active at 7:10am. Speedtests similar to ABB for me.

    • ABB did not respond to my online message to cancel, and no online chat available. Phoned them up just now, and they said although there was a few dollars of credit left, they would not refund it as they need 30 days notice. Go figure. They were also keen to know which ISP I went to.

  • are they use CGNAT?

    • No

  • how is the process to switch from ABB to SL for FTTC? do i need to disconnect from ABB first? or is it like mobile number porting, done automatically as soon as you sign up to new ISP

    • Sign up for SL… connection will drop (10 mins later for me) and then change over to SL..

Call ABB and tell them you've switched and would like to close your account..
They will do some calculations and charge you only for the days you've used..
This is how it happened for me last week

  • Just messaged Michael Blake as mentioned by a few guys in previous comments and he just gave me a reduction for the next 12 month so stoked with that, even at the current price, I'm happy as Im getting better speeds then ABB at a cheaper price. :)

    • did you really mean 12 month reduced price?

  • +1

Just switched from Vodafone 100/40 BYO promo to this. (Had issue with randomly disconnecting at night between 10pm~4am multiple times, got fed up)

Sign up was super easy, all done through the site, got 100/40 500GB deal. Was connected in 30min (had to turn off Auto WAN Sensing with my Technicolor tg789vac v2 modem).

    Speedtest:
    London - https://www.speedtest.net/result/8703012706.png
    Sydney - https://www.speedtest.net/result/8703010620.png
    LA - https://www.speedtest.net/result/8703021431.png
    San Francisco - https://www.speedtest.net/result/8703025320.png
    New York - https://www.speedtest.net/result/8703027748.png
    Hong Kong - https://www.speedtest.net/result/8703023823.png

Overall international speed is definitely an improvement over Vodafone and browsing felt snappier too. Very pleased!

  • Had a call from superloop today saying that I would be connected today which I was so phoned up abb to cancel and the guy was happy to update my latest bill to reflect the days I haven't used (pro-rata).

  • Does your current service have to be active for churning to a new provider? Or can it be done after you cancel with your current provider?

i.e. disconnecting on 31 Oct with current, and activating with new provider on the 1 Nov.

    • It wouldn’t be a churn in that case, it would be a new connection. I’m not 100% sure but I’d imagine a churn is a lot quicker than having to order a service from scratch but others more knowledgeable may be able to elaborate and/or correct me.

      • Thanks Jonesy

    • what type of connection do you have. we had disconnected from our old provider and got onto SL after a month as we were out of the country. no issues at all. got the sms and email confirming the connection around 11am on the scheduled date of connection. we are on FTTB btw. same should work for FTTN as well.

      • HFC.

  • +1

Superloop website doesn't work for me.. can't fill in 'details' 'who is this service for'. Same issue across phone, iPad and laptop. Anyone else experience this and have a way around? My ABB gets billed tomorrow.

    • +1

same here - cant get pass 'who is this service for' section…. (facepalm)

      • Mine magically started working.. try now!

        • thanks mate same here, look like they fixed it

  • With aussiebb was it best for people to cancel 1 day before the invoice date (and not get a refund for it), or actually wait until after the invoice date and get a new invoice done up and only pay for 1 day so no refund required?

  • Just got connected from ADSL with speeds of 15 Mbps ($70/m) to superloop fttn NBN clocking speeds of 49 Mbps (50/20 plan). Cheers OP

  • Peak time in ACT on civic POI :-( not good. Keep dropping back to .5mbs and foxtel pauses.

Hope they get their act into gear.

  • Hmm Probably switch From my Current Aussie BB 100/40 500Gb Plan been with them for 3 years and with no incentives there is no reason to not give this a try.

  • Advice for those leaving Kogan NBN for superloop. With kogan NBN, you pay for a month in advance, and when you leave them they won't refund the days of internet that you have paid for and haven't used.

I'm going to call back, and ask if I can use my Kogan NBN connection for the whole of November (without them performing any more direct debits for December) so I can switch to Superloop at the end of November

  • Can I use my old dodo Huawei home gateway router and still get good speeds with superloop?

  • -6

tried to sign up to superloop multiple times but their call centre needs a major improvement. Tried calling when the centre opened but was told that I was calling out of operating hours (8am) even though it was 8:30. decided to just stick to Aussie broadband instead, fantastic customer service and answered in a minute lol

    • -1

More likely you called a different timezone then Superloop not being open by the sounds of it.

  • -1

Good deal, switch from Aussie Broadband to Superloop was seamless and took all but five minutes. Sadly, sync speeds were identical to what I was getting before (80down/40up) on my FTTN connection. I think people who saw an improvement in connection speeds were people who were moving from a provider that was on a different network. Since I was already with AussieBB, which uses Superloop network anyway, might explain why I didn't see a change in speeds.

    • Why so sad? Saving $30 a month (if you were on ABB $99 plan)

    • Are you sure you are talking about DSL Sync Speeds?
Those have nothing to do with your RSP on NBN FTTN/FTTB.

  • -1

Just switched from ABB to superloop, I'm on FTTC with the nbn box. Do I need to reconfigure my netcomm modem router?

    • should be all automatic with nothing to be done from your end once the order is placed in SL system :)

      • Sadly the internet doesn't work. I cancelled my aussie broadband account too. On hold superloop now

        • thats bad, already tried rebooting the router i am sure?

and did you get the confirmation mail and sms from SL that service has been activated for you

          • @spoddar01: Restarted modem and nbn box, got the confirmation sms and email this afternoon too. Still on hold with superloop at 45mins

          • @spoddar01: I had to change my dns server numbers.

  • Does anyone know what happens if you go over the 500gb?

  • What sort of speed are people getting on the 50/20 plan with superloop? Since switching I'm only getting around 14mbps down and 18mbps up and a ping of 170?

    • DOWNLOAD Mbps - 46.34
      UPLOAD Mbps - 18.21
      Ping - 10ms

thats from a speedtest.net test just now
      50/20 FTTN

      • A speedtest I ran back in April was 49 up 18 down with a ping of 96. Don't know why my internet is so bad now might have to give superloop a call.

    • 36/9 - 9ms on FttN. Exactly the same as what ABB use to be.
