Ozito Power X Change Nail and Staple Gun Skin, $99.98 @ Bunnings

190

Looks like Ozito finally joined the party with having an 18V nail gun in their range.
What's interesting this time is Aldi don't have the nail gun in their current tool specials rotation yet they have it at the Aldi special-buy price. No idea what the price is going to be at normally (couldn't find on Price Hipster) so apologies in advance if it stays at this price even after the current Aldi specials!

I already bought the Workzone gun last time so I won't be buying but may interest those who are after one but only in the Ozito system not Workzone.

An observation going off the website pics and PDF manual; this one doesn't have the firing mode switch and separate jam/battery LED indicator.

  • Bunnings has a pic showing it used for fence, but can you get rustproof nails/staples?

ALDI sold it previously for $99. i've seen them for $49 if you are lucky enough to still find one

    • Wow $49, generous store. Lowest I saw was just $89 at one store maybe 4 weeks after the sale.

I picked mine up for 69, didn't want to risk them selling out, at 49 every man and his dog would buy one

The Workzone Xfinity nail gun from last last year takes up to 50mm length nails, this Ozito appears to be 32mm max length.

    • hmm, so I guess it won't just be a case of buying Bunnings for the warranty or availability, if it's not as "good", on paper anyway.

  • Not a bad price if need one that is

  • Is it powerful enough for framing stud work?

    • not if maximum nail length is only 32mm

      • How long does the nail need to be?

        • I also need to know the minimum length of framing nails. Anyone please?

          • +1

@jas2u: Framing nails are 75mm at the minimum for anything structural framing related in accordance with AS 1684. You can get shorter lengths of framing nails for other purposes

      haha, not even close…

    • This one above is a brad nailer used for door jams etc NOT a first fix gun.

      • Will The Workzone Xfinity nail gun do it?

        • +2

No the only fully capable cordless 1st fix I would recommend is the DeWalt Brushless framing gun but that's expensive unless you intend to use it a bit.
Otherwise I know someone who has used this gas powered 1st fix and said it works just as good as the Paslode equivalent at $700+

OTHERWISE If you are on a budget and have access to a air compressor I would recommend the Ryobi pneumatic air gun.

          Or just borrow/hire one

I bought the Aldi 50mm braid gun and returned it as it was only suitable for softwood and not as powerful as one driven by an air compressor that can drive 50mm braids to full depth in hardwoods.

    • +1

Framing is done on softwood pine

    Is this normal price?

I wonder if this is in response to Aldi deal this weekend.

    • That's the shit/weak version I would not take if handed out for free. The decent Ozito multitool is still $99
