Here we go again…work out about 82c per bar if you factor in the delivery cost.

    • +1

77c for me. Cheapest I've ever seen at Coles is 4 for $6 ($1.50 ea). Ebay is cheaper than coles but more expensive than bigbuys.

I bought… looks around shiftily a few bars. Just enough to hum to…

      • +14

It looks like the supermarkets are going to have to…

        (sunglasses on)

        clean up their act.

        YEEEAAAAAHHHHHHH!!!

Hm…doesn't feel quite the same. Where's Horatio when you need him? Maybe I'll just get off my soapbox, wash my hands of it and start with a clean slate.

        • +4

          puntastic :)

        • +3

          Can you take…the PUNishment??

  • +1

didnt get this, but got a baby monitor and dog collar for $110 :) (same site)

    • +5

Remember, the collar goes on the -dog-. Don't get them confused. That'd be bad.

      • +1

"Honey, the baby's barking at us again."

        • -2

"And the dog keeps crying and trying to undo it's collar."

    • -8

I will be using the monitor and collar for my misses.

        What's with these lame comments….

        • +3

          What's with all the haters?

  • +4

are these identical to the supermarkets type, The ones you get cheaper at the $2 shop places seem to be a different make, with a slightly different package and cheaper ingredients…and dont seem to feel the same as the usual type. Can anyone confirm they are identical? I'd like to buy but if they are the cheaper knock offs, then I'd want to be sending them back!!

    • The ones you buy from the supermarkets are made in Germany. If they are from anywhere else they will be cheap and nasty fakes.

      • +4

Quote from previous thread by HN rep:

The packaging is foreignish but the product is exactly the same (German made, same ingredients etc).

        • +2

New word for the vocabulary. Foreignish.

      • I bought some from independent stores for $1 each and although they say "Made in Germany", they definitely are inferior to the 2 and 4 pack ones frm supermarkets. I'll never buy the single ones again.

    • +1

it's Harvey Norman, I doubt they'd sell knock offs.

      • +2

It's not really Harvey Norman. They just use their name.

        • +4

It's actually 100% Harvey Norman, under the direct supervision of Gerry Harvey.

        • +3

bigosmallo/watwatwat: Well, you're both kinda correct. Gerry Harvey set up a new company (eDeal Busters) outside of the existing Harvey Norman corporate framework; eDeal Busters licenses the name from Harvey Norman and operates Big Buys.

"eDeal Busters Pty Ltd ACN 145 985 851 (trading as “Harvey Norman Big BuysTM”) of Unit 1, Building B, 164 Adderley Street, Auburn, New South Wales (“us”, “our”, “we”, “HN Big Buys”) carries on business from www.harveynormanbigbuys.com.au (“the website”) under the trading name "Harvey Norman Big BuysTM”, pursuant to a franchise granted by HN Online Franchisor Pty Ltd ACN 148 935 808 (“Franchisor”) and a limited license granted by its related body corporate to trade as “Harvey Norman Big BuysTM” from the website."

I bought these the last time around and they're made in Germany. There's Arabic on the packaging, but everything else is the same. Haven't used them though

    sold out…..

    • +1

Faster than last time, when I missed out cos I figured I'd wait till I got home from work. This time I waited, like a tiger, ready to strike.

I figure I'm good wrt soap for the next few years now. :)

  • +1

Damn, I missed this last time and this time!! Great deal though if theyre identical to the ones in Coles/Woolies.

  • +3

My bathroom cabinet was never big enough to store 50 bars of soap anyway :P

  • +2

Sorry I wasn't on the ball enough to get in here and answer questions folks! I was preparing for the inevitable zombie apocalypse in some simulator called L4D

    • +2

sniffle So you left us for dead? Not very nice! Where's the love?!

Also, what's the expiry date on these suckers? :)

      • I'd have answered this… but the buyers didn't tell me and they enjoy their weekends. I'll make sure I have the info if and when we run this again ;)

        • Well, you know, just as long as it's at least as far ahead as last ones. If not there'll be disgruntled people, me amongst them. :/

        • I can only imagine it being later if anything, but I'll get confirmation for you

        • Awesome. Thank you. Also, you're about to have a toothpaste special. Same deal re date would be good there, too. Expired toothpaste tastes, smells and feels awful. :/

        • Yep expiry for the toothpaste is November 2013. Still waiting on confirmation on the Dove…

  • Soap? I thought the whole point of Dove was that it was not soap.
It is in the same bar format as soap, but is actually a synthetic detergent, as in shower gel, shampoo, and dishwashing liquid.

Googling … turns out that "Dove" is just another Unilever-owned brand, marketed with a feel-good style at "older" women. (over 25 = older in advertising?) Their bars contain both synthetic surfactants and good old-fashioned soap made from animal fat.

I think I will continue buying my soap from Tyler Durden.

  • Damn I missed it.

    • +1

The Dove Packs are easily startled but they'll soon be back, and in greater numbers

  • +1

    My order arrived this morning.
They come in packs of 2 (so there's 24 packs in the box) and there is no expiry date on them.

    • +1

Mine arrived also. I think the expiry is the number after the M on the box and, I think, wrapping. Then again, I could be reading more than there is into 01.14 and 01.13. :)

      • +1

The numbers are the M on my box are 22.07, so i'd suggest that's the time of manufacture rather than some sort of expiry date.

        • +1

Just checked, got an AAE note in the letterbox, but no one rang the door bell. Those damn Do Not Knock stickers might be putting off the mailmen/couriers. Damnit, can't have it both ways huh?

        • @KatDat How about a "Don't knock unless I want you to" sticker?

        • +1

Haha, oh but I'm sure the salemen would insist that I would want to know about their offer on long distance calls, and the money I could save! =P

  • +1

I have received mine and i am now smelling nice.
