Best Sim Hopping Options to Reduce Total Cost of Mobile Calls/Data with Minimum Risk/Hassle?

Hi OZBs,

I am trying to reduce my spending to pay our mortgage and accommodate a baby on the way.

Curious to know from OZB Pros about what the best sim hopping options to reduce the total cost of mobile calls/data. I have done some research and below is what I am thinking for the least risk in terms of porting and maximum data but keen to know from OZB Pros if there are better options. Note that I have a cheap but dual sim phone.

Dodo $5/month sim (total $60 per year) to keep my main number for all calls and texts (cheap and reduces risk of loosing number with porting).
Alternate Catch ($15/3 months) + Kogan ($10/3 months) 3 month sims for data only (Total cost $50 year). Sim activation only and no porting.

Total cost $110 (cheaper and more data than Boost).

Is this the cheapest option ?

$5 ALDI 365 SIM (Only incoming calls/ text) - Yearly cost $5

Circles.life Promo - Four Months Free

Then back to the VF $30 SIM - Free

Total Cost for the year $5

    After circles finishes I will port back and forth too VF, I have enough Sims to get me too Dec 2020.

        @Neoika: I don't think you understand what I mean. Once you purchase an Optus sim, it gets activated with credit. You have 30 days to activate that sim otherwise you lose the money

The catch website says the $15 plan 90 days is new customers only. But you mentioned youve done this without needing to port out first?
My catch plan runs out soon and was thinking of doing the same but I thought Id have to port out first?

  Need a dual sim phone to do this.
  
  Sim 1 - keep a low-cost sim to make all your calls. This is your main number
  Sim 2 - Use as a data sim. Sign up to Catch every 3 months with a NEW sim number (no need to port as your main number is protected as above).

Im just starting sim hopping with a dual Sim phone.

I can't find the kogan plan for $10. I can't even find the $15 searching on kogan, only by going through ozbargain
I'll see how I go with my main number on a $5 Aldi plan. I don't call or text often. Even if I need to top up $15 that's a total of $20 vs 60 on Dodo. My husband is on Aldi so free calls to him.

  Yes, Catch Connect 3 months plan is cheaper but you need 2 providers to hop around. Kogan Mobile 3 months plan is still useful.
