      "Lubricating ingredients loosen rusted parts"

I guess it depends on how rusty your, ahem, your friends' parts is? :)

Not to be used as a lubricant, should be used as a solvent or rust dissolver. Use grease for lubricant, at least this is what I am told and now do.

It's also good for getting off sticker residue. There's a low-odour variant now so it doesn't leave your non-sticky jar or whatever smelling of WD-40.

        • Fly spray is cheaper and does the same job, also good for removing permanent texta.

It's "safe on wood" so should be okay .

      • Love it!

Always use proper lubricant afterwards, otherwise parts will rust.

    • Any pointers on the brand of proper lubricant for metal ?

Don't know about the product, posted for the irony (see third dot point at top):
"……WD-40 Specialist® High Performance Silicone Lubricant solution is a non-staining, hardworking formula, which provides excellent lubrication, won’t attract dirt, and protects against moisture. It stops parts from sticking and can be used on high pressure equipment. This product can be used on metal, plastic, wood and rubber and can work in extreme temperatures of -40°C to +200°C.
