Damn. Wish it was 14", but then everyone always wants an extra inch or so.

Unless you african american then you want none of that

      • I can think you mean if your partner is African-American?

  • -3

For $500 I'll bite one for fun. Screen is just tablet size.

    • +1

Sorry if I’ve missed the obvious but how have you calculated $500?

      • +6

Slightly incorrect use of syntax. He means "for $500 I would bite".

        • Ok I get it thanks :)

    • +1

Expensive snack. Why would you bite a computer 🤔

      • +3

        Cookie Monster

        • "I'll bite one"

          I'll byte the rest

  • +8

Not bad, keep in mind that this is a 7th gen dual core i5. Instead of the newer quad core 8th/9th Gens.

  • +1

Anyone has this and can comment on how the battery life is?
    Thanks!

  • No mention of backlit keyboard or charging via usb C.

    • +6

This is the 2nd gen X360. It has backlit and USB-C charging. (I have one).

      • +1

Nice unit then for this price. Does it come with a usb C charger, or has proprietary?

What quality are the speakers as that is important to me? How loud does than/cooling get?

How many hours do you get after a full charge?

Hope you don't mind all the questions, helps people on here getting feedback from real world use.

        Cheers

        • +1
          • USB C Charging
          • Speakers are crap, they are bottom firing
          • 6-7 hours full charge
          • @11112007: Thanks. Shame so many laptops have poor sounding speakers.

Is the cooling fan noisy, as in can you hear it surfing the web or watching youtube?

I have a Toshiba Ultrabook U840W with awesome speakers which is a bit ironic as the system running

a 3rd gen i5 3317U get's warm often with a fairly loud fan noise, so you really need the extra

volume the speakers can easily provide.

            • +1

@ozhunter68: You can hear a faint hum when under load. It's not that bad.

              • @11112007: That sounds good. They have definitely improved these newer intel U series CPU's then.

  • +1

8th generation chips were a big improvement over the 7th gen. 9th gen chips are only small incremental improvement. That's why I'm out. But still this is a good deal.

    • Intel Tic Toc evolution Hanging out then for early adoption of 10th gen and pay high price?

  • +1

If this had a 8th gen chip I would have snapped it up.

    • If this had 8th gen chip it would be closer to a grand.

  • If this had a 9th gen chip I would have snapped it up.

  • Does this config have the sureview option?

  • This or a Galaxy Tab S6

  • Nice price for what is essentially a Surface

  • +4

This is a business grade laptop. My whole company 15K+ uses this exact model. Works great with external GPU, personally tested.

    • could you elaborate on the external GPU setup please? is this through the thunderbolt port? what is needed?

My main use would be taking notes for uni, but would also like 3D CAD capabilities - so am waiting for something like this to go on sale (because of the MX250 4GB dedicated GPU) :
      https://www.jbhifi.com.au/products/hp-envy-x360-15-dr0015tx-…

      • Tested with HP Omen GA-10 egpu.It might be 4 lanes as well, not sure.

  • +1

Anyone know if this is passively cooled or not?

    • Great question.

I would also like to know. If not how noisy is the fan?

      • +1

        Fan cooled.

Based on reviews, for normal workload, it's totally silent.

  • Can I claim gst in trs?

    • Yes, it's aussie stock with gst so would be eligible.

  • This or a Surface Pro 6 for a high school student?

    • +4

This is more bang for buck I think. Don't forget with the Surface Pro, you will have to fork our more for a keyboard and pen. You will be looking at $1000+ minimum.

We have Surface Pros at work and the keyboard is never detached in my experience, and many have been sent back for warranty. Don't know about the HP Elite, I guess I will find out when it arrives.

      • +1

Thx - appreciate the response! Hmmm…

      • Thanks had similar question. Looking at a tab for media consumption and light word processing. Only thing is giving a presentation this thing might be too chunky? Plus no mobile games, only Windows stuff.

  • What is the warranty on these machines? The Ebay title has "3Y" in it making me initaily think that it is 3 years warranty.

    HP Elitebook x360 12.5" FHD Touch Intel Core i5 8GB 256GB Win 10P Laptop+Pen 3Y

Anyway, I'm thinking it is more likely a 12 month standard warranty.

  • No USB A a bit hard to transfer files from external HD/sticks unless get an USBc to A adapter

  • does this laptop comes with the pen ?

  • +1

its a 2017 model based on date of this review:

    https://www.laptopmag.com/reviews/laptops/hp-elitebook-x360-…

i guess its a bargain compared to a 2017 macbook.

  • +1

    Amazing, got one, thanks!

  • +4

Vendor pulled that listing and relisted at $100 more.
that sort of stuff annoys me.

    • +1

But it’s a bit odd seems like they have 2 different listing for the same laptop?

      • +1

yeah one that is 'sold out' and one that is not that is $100 more.
        Bait and switch

    • +1

Yes, observed the same. Dropped a msg to seller if this one will be re-stocked. I see no difference in specs and listing except for 3Y which I believe is 3 year warranty and should be same across the listings.

      • Any response from seller??

    • +1

Was literally about to pull the trigger and noticed it didn't get to the $796 price. Going to message the vendor as well and see if they can do anything about it.

Not going to buy at current price of $876.

      • +1

        Keep us posted please!

      • Yes, let us know if they give you an answer on the $796 price…

        • This is their reply…no luck

          .
          .

For this model it was a limited price and currently we can not offer at the same price.

Our marketing team may arrange this at a future date.

I would recommend you put this one on your watch list and we will lower the price when available to do so.

          Sorry for the inconvenience.

  • +2

It is identical item… look at the model number.. they just 'sold out' the cheaper price to profit gouge as the OZ Bargainers went through. I'm annoyed as I was just checking with Junior and Wifey if they would be happy with it when it ticked over to 'sold out' .. so I look at their store page and find the same item!

  • Although I'm not keen on the change it still seems a pretty good deal

  • 12.5 is way too small for a laptop, but ok for a tablet

    • I work on it everyday, have never felt its too small. I mostly use it with a monitor though. I find the smaller form factor handy the few times I have used it whilst travelling.

  • back in stock!

  • Anyone know what ram would be good for this laptop? Keen to add 8gb.

    • From some info on the web it’s soldered memory to the main board. So probably not upgradeable unless it’s from the factory.

      • It comes with an extra slot to add another stick I'm farily sure. Max is 16gb so you can add another 8.

        • Yes seems you're correct, must have confused this with another laptop.

          • @mac2403: It's actually not upgradable, ram is soldered on in this model

From the Maintenance and Service Guide

System board (processor is soldered with the WLAN, memory, thermals, fans, and heatsink)

            • @fastnet: Yes, thanks for the link! I came across a tear down vid which showed that. I realise my reply above isn't so clear but I meant I must have confused it with another laptop. thanks @eecchhoo @whirlforce
