No details on what the backpack is - seems to be different than the free dry bag that was offered with the Hero7

Doesn't seem to offer the free 32gb card available from Gopro direct ($599 inc delivery - so $5 cheaper)

Not seen any decent discounts on the Hero7 yet - probably won't happen until the Hero8 is freely available (Late Oct)
-current best is about $450.

This is a solid upgrade over the Hero7, with a few caveats - do your research before you buy.

    People used to line up to buy a copy of the latest windows OS. Preordering doesn't seem quite so bad compared to that.

  Its a solid upgrade from the 6 and less. Don't think its worth upgrading from the 7 unless you are a serious gopro user.

        Paid close to $1000 including SDcard and extra warranty.

        Firstly, why the heck did you pay that much?

        Secondly, why the heck didn't you take advantage of your extra warranty and get a replacement?

  Worth getting a 8 over a 7? - with ebay's 20% off a 7 on good guys, looking at $398 for a 7 black. New to gopro, suggestions?

    $200 extra is a big chunk of change.
    The base image quality is essentially the same.
    There are a bunch of improvements, but you might not use them - depending what you shoot.
    If you're new to GoPro, I'd suggest the 7.
    Or even the 7 silver st $239 if swapping batteries isn't a requirement.

        The 8 will no doubt be in a 20% sale before next year, plus if you’re going overseas if you buy near enough you can TRS it.. plus the TRS value is the full amount too, before discount.
