LOL - At first glance I read this as "The Common-Sense Guide to Taking Back The Control of Your Life from Anxiety, Stress & Amazon" - with the amount of stuff I've bought recently, taking back control of my life from Amazon would be a good thing!

    OMG, how do I block these pseudo-psych, self-help books ? 😂

The title did give me a giggle though, I like "common-sense" part of title… made me think, when are they going to start selling an 'Idiots guide to' for anxiety and related conditions 🤣😂🤣 .

I need to block these from coming up somehow. I can't really read into any of it, since I am actually studying psych at uni level. They basically told us to never read this and to always question it's truthfulness and scientifically proven effectiveness.

I guess many of these books are useful, ie. Not everyone has time etc to study into psychology properly, so some of these books could help in compressing and giving a general idea of things.
But there seems to be no requirement at all whatsoever regarding the author's qualifications for self-help books in general . I'm sure some are highly trained professionals, but others are just any old person that decided they wanted to make a $$ off the self-help fad .

There are some awesome journal article data bases online (PubMed is 1) where you can find out the latest on pretty much anything in psychological science and medicine.
For me, it is 100 times more interesting than a 'self-help book' or similar. You can start really getting into the latest research, and upcoming research; and then of course start to think of new and different ways to move forward.
Everything has to be done and understood and proven, in a scientific way.

Self help books can pretty much be written by anyone, about anything, and without needing any proof .
I would much rather read proper journal articles regarding these sorts of things. But maybe that's just me .
