    I'd rather have a can of Coke…

    • Me too!

i think this stuff is also known as 'smart water', if true the person buying it is anything but smart!

    • Umm…. OP posted a receipt of purchase. Maybe they 'found' it :).

I dont buy the stuff because it's blatantly false advertising, but a bargain is a bargain… and for this stuff to still be on the shelf someone is buying it. Plus vote to OP.

I can mix sugar and water for cheaper!

LOL at people bagging out these products when people on here seem to go gaga for Mother and V. If given the choice I know what I'd rather drink.

    • +2

At least "Mother" makes little pretense to be anything other than lolly-water.

The thing is, energy drinks aren't lying about what they do - they give you energy. These Smart/Vitamin Water drinks are completely misleading.

I would just like to document that my previous comment received 13+ votes before it was marked "inappropriate".

    • there you go mate, a replacement :).

You must be very proud of yourself.

Damn, I used to drink the Nutrient Water all the time, enjoyed the taste and the gimmicky little paragraphs, but I've been enlightened and disheartened by that choice article…

    Curse you illusory sugar water!

    Ignorance really is bliss

  • In January 2011, the United Kingdom's Advertising Standards Authority ruled that a Summer 2010 advertisement that claimed VitaminWater was "nutritious" was misleading due to the high sugar content (23g per 500ml) of the drink. The ruling banning the advertisement stated: "Because Vitamin Water contained about a quarter of a consumer's GDA (guideline daily amount) for sugar as well as the added vitamins, we considered that the description of Vitamin Water as 'nutritious' was misleading."

    This the same stuff?

      It's same same but different.

The secret ingredient in this one is that it's 1% squirrel tears.

  • still a rip

    • There are people who buy this stuff — even at $3.00 a bottle it disappears from the vending machines fairly quickly where i work.

      • If you are after a non-carbonated, cold, flavoured beverage you either drink this or juice.

Also, vitamins in tablet form often have unproven benefits yet people spend $$$ on vitamin tablets.

Though I do agree that they make a lot of dubious claims and I'd never buy it.

  • Aldi's own brand of vw is only $1.29 (or maybe $1.39), if you want all those * ahem* "benefits" for cheaper. I love the stuff, on occasion :o)

    • I bought some from ALDI yesterday and had the first one today. Totally different flavour to VW but really nice. I would definitely recommend them if you're a fan of these sorts of drinks and want to save a bit of money.

  • Thanks for the articles - it was an interesting read. Personally I don't see Vitamin water as a miracle vitamin drink full of nutrients, but more a sweet flavoured drink.
In any case, isn't a bargain something that's bought more cheaply than its usual price, not a 'clinically trialled and proven formula that will revitalise your health'?

  • I like these drinks but I have them in moderation because, unlike so many people out there who are obviously illiterate, I actually read the labels and know there's a fair bit of sugar in these. They are good when you don't want boring old water or something carbonated, and I can't drink fruit juice (reflux) so these are a good option at times.

Still, it's basically water and cordial. The ridiculous standard price of these is really a turn-off. It's way overpriced so anything under $2 is definitely a bargain.
