Amazon are already undercutting/matching their competitors and currently have TLOU2 available for pre-order cheaper than anywhere else. Usually I'd always be cautious with pre-orders but considering this is a AAA Naughty Dog game it would surely live up to expectations (otherwise there's still Amazon's 30day return policy).

Stack this with a Macca's Monopoly voucher and throw in a price protection card for good measure and surely you can't lose.

My final checkout price ended up being $49 for the game that made me want to get a PS4 in the first place, can't complain about that.

Prices at other stores for comparison:

  • JB $79
  • The Gamesmen $78
  • Big W $69 (credit aja12)

  • Don't forget about Amazon's price guarantee:

    Pre-order Price Guarantee

Amazon.com.au's price for not-yet-released items sometimes changes between the time the item is listed for sale and the time it is released and shipped. Whenever you pre-order an item eligible for Pre-order Price Guarantee, the price we charge when we ship it to you will be the lowest price offered by Amazon.com.au between the time you placed your order and the end of the day of the release date.

    • Same as jb.

        JB isn't really the same though. JB charges immediately and then refund the difference after release date if the price drops. So if you preorder today, you pay $79. If it drops to $69 tomorrow, you won't get refunded the difference until after release according to their terms;

        Pre-Order Price Guarantee
When you pay for your pre-order upfront and the price drops before release day you will be refunded the difference shortly after release

        • You still get refunded. Many of us here on OZB use shopback rewards that take months to come through and we survive. You can wait to preorder up to 4 days prior to release if you like.

If you can't afford the money up front now, then yes for sure look elsewhere.

@onlinepred: Paying $79 today and being refunded $10 in 5 months time is not the same as paying $69 in 5 months time. The price guarantee policies are not the same like you're saying they are, just correcting the misinformation that you're spreading.

            • -3

@aja12: I didn't say they were the exactly the same lol. Just that JB also has a price guarantee also. Like I said, if you need to budget $79 (will reduce to $69 soon anyway so you can wait), then yes you should try amazon. Pro's and Con's going both ways. I want to get the game in my hands before release day as a priority, so I choose JB, rather than risking not getting the game till the following week

  • Bought 1! thanks!

  • I have to wait for delivery though, so I won't have it on release day. I'll have to wait 2-7 days after release date :-/

    • Make a new account and use the prime free trial to get free release day delivery.

      • Provide your transaction or order ID, please? To catch Amazon out, I need them to verify internally they are granting the $20 credit for a $69 item in cart, thats not $79 (min purchase). I also dont want to create a new account, did you have to do this yourself..??

    • People who ordered Days Gone on Amazon got the game delivered two days before the official release date, so you might actually get it early.

  • Want to buy a PS4 again for this!

  • i bought a ps4 for read dead redemption 2 the day it came out and knowing that this game will come out later. good investment. also ill just get it from local bigw same price.

Can someone tell me why people don't just buy 1 week after the game comes out for $49.95?

    • +2

Because the usual case is that it actually goes up in price after the initial release’s sales, and only comes back down (and beyond) many months later.

Just seems to drop very quickly when it’s a title you had little interest in.

    • lol.. maybe for sh** games, I can guarantee you this game will not be $49.95, not even $59.95 after 1 week or even after 1 month of release.

After it's release weekend the game will be more than $69 usually. I don't think you get how game releases work.

  • Can't wait to see in Elle in action again!

Does anyone feel sorry for the thousands of men and handful of women she kills in the first game? They have stories too. In a real life zombie attack and factions she would be made into a birthing machine, not a gun slinging young independent woman.

      • Real life zombie attack? Tell him he's dreaming.

      • Technically, you pressed the buttons so you killed them and shifted the blame to her.

Considering you are a builder I'd say you'd be pretty reliant on people pre-ordering stuff.

      • progress payments so no

        • So you never accept any deposit payment on a pre-order?

          • @LikeMike: nope, I build at a level far greater than any homeowner could afford. There are laws around deposits as well In SA its 5% over 20k or upto a grand under 20k.

            • @abuch47:

build at a level far greater than any homeowner could afford

Pretty sure millionaires and billionaires own homes too. Are your prices out of reach for them too? You sound legitimate.

              • @aja12:

                prices

                jumping to conclusions.

newsflash there are many more important buildings than the humble abode.

  • Go to eb games and price match big w. Depending on the staff at your local EB store, it should be a straightforward price match.
Eb games still has 7 days change of mind policy on new games . Hopefully the game will be awesome. It is good to know that with the eb purchase, if it turns out not that good, you can get a full refund I think. It might be just store credit? But it should be cash back, if you paid in cash for the pre order.
Some of the staff are rude and make stupid excuses like "the store price matched is has to be in the same shopping centre" . Most of the staff will do the price match without any issue or protests.

Do Amazon do anything to match Eb games 7 days change of mind policy (even if you have played game through) .

  • THANK YOU!

managed to get it for $49 also :)

    • How? Op hasn't bothered to reply to messages..

      • Maccas monopoly Amazon voucher. It was all in the description and above thread.

      • +1

Not sure what you're expecting from me. I gave enough info on how to get it done (evidenced by the multiple other users who have confirmed they successfully got it to work). Additionally, the only thing you asked me is for my order number, which I'm sure most would agree with me in that I'd be unwilling to just randomly give that out to someone especially considering this voucher isn't meant to be used in the manner I described and relied on the Amazon support staff being extremely generous and helpful.

I'd assume the answer to your question "How?" is that bugsbunny, in addition to the multiple other users that did it, was bothered to read the other comments in this post in addition to my own to get their voucher converted to credit. Hopefully they can confirm.

        • +1

          Yep that's exactly what I did :)

    • No worries mate, glad it worked out for you

  • They changed their release date :(
