Is it legal yet? I'm just not comfortable knowing that I could get hit with $1000+ in fines.

    • +1

      Not in SA

      • Is there anyone, who has actually been fined for riding these? I.e. not the ride/beam ones

    • +2

      just run away :)

      • +2

But running was what I was wanting to avoid!

Edit. But I want to buy this so I don't have to run!

    • Not in NSW either

      • Indeed, the fines are just 600+ in NSW.

    • as long as you don't ride it on the road, you are fine.. on footpath they won't fine you.

      • Guy on r/Sydney got hit with $2,500 of fines.
One of them for riding on a foot path.

        https://www.reddit.com/r/sydney/comments/aeqa53/25k_of_fines…

        • Hmm.. interesting, but how can these two fines be issued together:

          • Using an unregistered motor vehicle on road
          • Driving on footpath

You either be on footpath or on road, having these two fines together is contradicting itself. I have been riding on footpath almost everyday to station for the past three months, even had an occurance where police driven pass me as I was riding, never had such issues. Oh well, if this is the case, then I guess it's at my own risk.

  • Ozbargained already? Site seems to be down…

    • +1

  • Is this a legit Xiaomi store like official official or like the Ralph Lauren stores in Bali where they’re not actually legit

    • +1

Most likely not and it's not affiliated with Xiaomi in anyway.
If you want to be certain @Clear would be the one to ask, he's got contacts and stuff. Not too long ago Clear also cleared up a false claim when some other site/Amazon store was claiming to be Xiaomi official, it turned out it was a false claim.
If Xiaomi actually launched in Australia all the big retailers would be selling Xiaomi stuff, but they're not, there's only these sites and Amazon and eBay stores.

    • Official Xiaomi website will only be mi.com/au/
      mi.com/sg/
      mi.com/tw/
      Mi.Com/global/

      • https://www.mi-store.com.au/ is the official store in Australia

        • I don't think so. This is www.mi-store.com.au registration information.

    • Legal in all of QLD

same price as Catch of the day and at least their site works

  • +1

    Isn't max speed 25km/h?

    • Yep top speed 25 without firmware mods

  • Note that you probably need to get some spare tires for these as the way they are designed the inner tube doesn't last. Also, it's a pain to change the tires for this (even the guy at a bike shop who helped me said it's very difficult). Other than that it's a nice e-scooter.

    • Got my first flat on the weekend. Got a tyre repair kit from kmart so I could use the little plastic levers.

It was a pain but nothing that cant be done in about half hour. Also, the scooter should come with 2 spare tyres with tubes

      • I've had no success with tube repairs. Best to replace the tube.

        • Oh I never repaired the tube. Just got the kit for the little levers

          • @Gracey: I got couple of those levers from a bike shop. Taking it out is easy… putting it back on is the difficult part.

I have gone through 2 flats in less than a year. I recently got tires that doesn't require an inner tube (so that I won't need to change flats anymore) but haven't had time to install it yet.

            • @muddrex: @muddrex Yeah nice, are you able to link to the tubeless tyres please?

              • +1

@Gracey: I bought it in China when I was visiting earlier this month. Since this is a Chinese brand, they have a lot more accessories and parts option over there. This tire issue is a known issue so there are lots of alternatives.

I just checked AliExpress, you can search for M365 Tire and there seems to be a number of options.

The one I got is like this one:
                https://www.aliexpress.com/item/4000086212298.html?spm=a2g0o…

Again, haven't had a chance to put it on so not sure how well it works yet.

If you’re happy with os stock banggood is over $100 cheaper https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/486702.

    • +2

Was just about to link that.
Imo this I hardly a deal, the Xiaomi scooters have been as low as $530 many times and included a spare set of wheels.

You need a treadmill, not a scooter.
